Even though the place looks nice, they lie with the HAPPY HOUR promotion from 17-20h. We ordered 2 SPRITZ Aperol. Then I asked the guy who seemed the manager if Happy hour meant 2x1 like in Spain. He said "yes, of course, no problem". So we ordered two more and some food. When they brought the bill he charged 24€ for the 4 Aperol, then I asked another waiter that this wasn't what the manager had told me before. Then the waiter called the manager and he said that he was sorry, that he doesn't speak English well. I said that this is not my problem and even the waiter wanted to charge only 12€ for the Aperol because he admitted that the manager would have called the waiter so as things could have been clear. In the end the manager started shouting in Greek that he had to charge 24€ , the waiter was so embarrassed. I did say that I am on holidays and don't want to argue. Anyway, I finally paid the total bill but we will never go back to this place. They make lie publicity and the manager is the worst, very bad...
Read moreWe had breakfast here twice and dinner once, in the three days we stayed in Crete. That's saying a lot considering we didn't eat more than once anywhere else during our two week visit to Greece! We had eggs with staka both days, as well as a ham omelette, and dakos during each of our breakfasts. All items were delicious. The Cretan breakfast includes an incredible cheese pie which cannot be compared to any other pie we've had outside of Crete. The bread they use is the best bread we've had out of all the restaurants in Greece - fancy or not. For dinner we had Gemista which was SO good. The pepper and tomato were unbelievably tender and the rice inside had the perfect amount of flavour and herbs. We also had the vegetable soup which was a puree of vegetables which was very well done. Also, the honey they serve with breakfast is brilliant. All in all, it was a fantastic experience and I would recommend a stop by Ela to anyone interested in fantastic service, authentic Cretan dishes, and...
Read moreThe place looks really gorgeous, being located in a tiny street of Chania ‘s old town. And that's it. I just hope we were unlucky customers as after being sat down and served with, pretty questionable food, the magic of the place has burst like a bubble. The so- called mixed leaf salad was literally a half of Roman lettuce, chopped, with few whole dried tomatoes and a drip of balsamic vinegar – tasteless. We had it with some bread, that was brought to our table, as we thought – free of charge. Imagine our surprise when we found out that we were billed for it. Mains were veal and boursaka- veal was fine, boursaka tasted microwaved. We felt neglected by the waiter who was friendly when “herding” the customers to the tables, but wasn't much attentive afterwards. We paid for our water, whereas the locals were served a complimentary one in the jugs. Also, wasn't expecting it, but would be nice to be offered Raki after the meal – As other places do serve, as...
