A Hidden Gem in Chania – Krio Vrisali is Pure Magic Krio Vrisali in Chania is more than just a restaurant – it’s an experience. From the moment we arrived, we felt embraced by the warmth and soul of this place. The atmosphere is incredibly romantic, with vine-covered walls, a gentle waterfall, and soft Greek music that makes you feel like you’ve been welcomed into a Greek grandmother’s home. The food? Absolutely made with love. Every dish we tried was bursting with authentic, traditional flavors – comforting yet refined. Over our two visits (yes, we had to return before leaving Crete!), we indulged in a feast: Greek salad, Apaki, chicken and okra, steamed lamb kleftiko wrapped in parchment paper, beef stifado served with rice, grilled octopus, and a mushroom dish with guyure—a traditional Greek specialty that was highly recommended and definitely did not disappoint. And the baklava? Quite possibly the most orgasmic dessert we've ever had – rich, flaky, drenched in honey, and unforgettable. Every bite felt thoughtful and real. The refreshing cucumber-tomato salad rounded out the meal perfectly. The house wine and Kaiser beer paired wonderfully and were highly recommended by the staff. Speaking of the staff – they were exceptional. Genuine, kind, never pushy. We loved watching them interact with other guests as much as we enjoyed our conversations with them. Their recommendations were spot on every time. One of the things that touched us most: they stayed open late on our first night just to make sure we were well-fed after arriving in town. That kind of care and hospitality is rare. They don’t rush you – they stay open as long as there are guests, because they genuinely care about your experience. Krio Vrisali was easily our favorite restaurant in Chania – maybe even in all of Crete. It’s the kind of place that stays in your heart long after the meal is over.

Read moreAvoid if you don't like screaming waiters when you're refusing to pay more than you should!
Be careful, they can give you an invoice with completely different price to what you've ordered initially (took a meal deal from the menu, fixed price, but they calculated all items separately). They then started saying that the price is correct, it was calculated by a computer and they can't change it, although yesterday we took exactly the same meal deal for the correct price. Then the waiter started yelling at me (literally yelling, everyone started looking at us), however at the end, another guy told him to shut up and I paid the meal deal's price (the difference was just 3eur!!! Seriously, cheating people for 3 EUR and screaming...
Read moreAbsolutely avoid. The moussaka wasn't homemade, the pork was greasy, but so far nothing scary. That was without counting the salad which must have been a week old, with a rotten tomato and especially A DEAD INSECT. I politely asked for my plate to be taken back to the kitchen, and surprisingly they did nothing except return it to me, telling me that the insect must have fallen into it by chance. So I asked if it was normal to have the salad not fresh, and the server had the nerve to tell me that for him, it was fresh. I let you judge by the photos. To avoid absolutely, I think it would be a good idea to go for a walk in the kitchen to see how serious it is to offer such unfresh food in such a...
