I have a mixed experience about this hotel. I live in the UK and I recently got married in Chania so I booked some rooms for my guests and although all feedback from my guests was good about the quality of the rooms and the location, there was a serious mix up with the payment. I was supposed to pay for one night for all my guests and even though I specifically asked for details about the actual cost and discount that we had agreed their answer was that everything will work out in the final payment. The result is that after constant email communication with the woman responsible for my bookings a few days before the arrival the calculations were so far off that I had to go and sort it out. Long story short I ended up sending a couple of emails asking the reason of the misunderstanding, with no reply! then I went there in person about 3-4 times with all the emails that include the cost and their cancellation policy, along with proof of the correct calculations but couldn't find the woman responsible for my bookings and although all the employees that I talked with were kind, understanding and told me that my calculations were correct I ended up paying more than agreed after my guests departure!! I never talked with the woman responsible or even received an email to explain the mix up or apologising, so I think the least that I can do is to write this review. I don't think there will be a problem with a small and straight forward deal and payment but in general be careful about their...
Read moreBooked 3 rooms to stay in. It was excellent value in the heart and centre of Chania on its doorstep. Great base for exploring the old town and for day trips/excursions. Only 8 mins walk to the main station and 5-8 mins walk to the harbour with market straight outside as well as many eateries (snack bar diagonally opposite was excellent, visited twice for authentic gyros!) The hotel is a quaint boutique that has been furnished to a modern standard. It has a lift (5 floors). The rooms are spacious enough and surprisingly very quiet. The bed is very comfy and so are the pillows. Slept well each night. Air con is powerful and works well. However, when looking beyond the main aspects and into the detail, there is room for improvement - in all 3 rooms the sink tap and shower head water went hot/cold and change of strong/weak pressure constantly, water leaking from sink tap onto ledge, also slow drainage of water. There is also lack of storage in the room to put things (if more than 1 person) and there are no amenities in the hotel. For breakfast, it was generally lacking in choice but enough for an above basic breakfast, although the coffee was excellent (coffee machine using coffee beans). In summary, this is a great value hotel and despite there being some room for improvement, with the location being excellent, the (minor) issues would not stop me staying here again. Thank you for adding to a memorable...
Read moreElia hotel was recommended by the University we are visiting, we had a workshop in the city and the location of this hotel, plus the price, were the most suitable for us. But you get what you pay for, they provide driving water only on the first day, the reception is on a different building, and there is no telephone line between the buildings, so if you have any issues, and you funny have a Greek phone, you will have to make an international call from your phone to talk to the reception, one of my colleagues found a cockroach in her room, she had an issue with electricity as well, she couldn't leave the room since her hair was wet, so she had to make a phone call costing her around 5USD to talk to the reception. And what was their answer: it is late at night, we can't do anything about it, and cockroaches are flying insects, we can't control them!! The location is great, only if you don't mind the noise of the street. The place itself is very noisy, I could hear the noises coming from the rooms next to me... I didn't recommend this place, I am sure you will be able to find a better deal, I am not coming back here...
