Philotimo Restaurant — Restaurant in Municipality of Mykonos

I looked up what the meaning of Philotimo (in English) after I had dinner here, as there was just something very unique about this restaurant that I have never felt before. “Philotimo describes an attitude toward fellow humans and humanity at large. It means showing empathy, compassion, and generosity without expecting anything in return, taking pride in doing what is right and honorable and being humble at the same time (Google)”. I had the opportunity to experience exactly what Philotimo describes with the food and service. The food was a very authentic taste of Greek, none like I have ever had. My wife and I said, it reminds us of our most favorite dish from our mothers, being that is had a “home cook” feeling. Thanos (hope I wrote correctly 😊) was a very good waiter and overall a very kind human. Stumbled across this hidden gem while hungry in Mykonos and WOW, am I glad we did. All good things to say about this restaurant - authentic and delicious Greek food with excellent service and a fantastic viewpoint!

We had the greek salad, lamb kleftiko, mixed grill for 2 people and cheesecake. If available, you MUST order the lamb kleftiko. The mix of veggies, lamb and cheese is absolutely heavenly. Be aware that you will leave full as portion sizes are BIG!

Fatmir, our server, genuinely went the extra mile for us to constantly check on us, provide excellent food recommendations and make us feel welcomed! His warm demeanor and willingness to go above and beyond truly elevated our lunch experience and Philotimo is lucky to have him.

A small word of warning - we trekked 20 minutes from the Mykonos port to get here which included stairs uphill. It’s a great escape from the tourist-crowded restaurants but may leave you feeling tired. But then again, all good things come to those who wait and those who are...
