180º Sunset Bar — Restaurant in Municipality of Mykonos

The view and ambience was lovely. We booked over a month in advance and there was a 100 euro minimum purchase per person where we chose to sit. Menu was very limited and was all raw fish. Drinks and food expensive. They had blankets for when it got colder and the wait staff service was great. What really diminished our experience was at the end of the evening. We had booked a taxi transport from our resort and were given a card from the taxi driver. They were expecting our call and told us to have the restaurant call when we were ready for a pickup. It was myself and my female friend traveling alone together and it was after dark at this point. We went to the front of the restaurant and asked the hostess to call a cab. She did not even attempt to do so and said they had recently tried to do so and that they were all busy. She asked where we were staying, started to text someone and then googled the name of our resort. At that point another hostess (I’m assuming the supervisor) walked up and told us the taxis were all busy and that she would try to call someone for us. She called someone and quoted us double the price the original taxi had charged us to take us there. We asked for them to try to call the original number for us as no one had even attempted to do so. She tried calling and said it went to voicemail and that no one has been answering (she did put it on speakerphone). At this point, it was freezing, and dark, and we were starting to get concerned about getting home. We asked if she could contact the other cab company who would be charging us double and she said she would see if they would still be available. About ten minutes later a literal truck and what appeared to be her son showed up to take us to our resort. I have never felt unsafe in a foreign country until this particular moment. No actual taxi was called. This could have been anyone. There was no transparency. She could have told us that the taxis were all busy but they had other arrangements. Anything. Instead it felt like a scene from Taken where we were being put in a situation where we felt powerless in a supposed luxury restaurant where we had just spent an obscene amount of money on basically appetizers. Someone should be aware of this and other travelers beware. Make sure you have pre arranged transportation to AND from your hotel or resort. *Edit per the restaurants response. This response and the combative feel of it is exactly how you all made us feel while we were there trying to get to a safe location. This felt like a personal vehicle and not a transportation service and none of this was communicated to us. We were not told that a personal transport service that the restaurant regularly uses was being called. All we were told was that the taxis were busy. While in the car with Alex we asked him if he was a transport driver and he actually told us “no this was a favor”. There were no official postings in his vehicle or on the outside showing any registration of being a driver of any kind as is the standard. He was courteous and kind and his vehicle was clean. However if this is what we got on a non peak season evening my concern is how young women traveling alone will feel during peak. Scammed, Threatened, and Trapped !!!

Booked a table with a minimum spend. Ordered tequila shots at €15 each — WITHOUT ASKING, STAFF SWITCHED the 2 LAST ROUNDS TO €175 PER SHOT !!! adding €1050 to the bill !!! When we refused, they locked us for hours, blocked the toilets, brought out a large dog, sprayed water on the stairs, and threatened us until we paid. We even had enough cash for the correct bill , but they refused. Intimidation, overcharging and holding customers hostage A 3 HOURS NIGHTMARE!!

Here is the story ;

We booked a table with a €400 minimum spend. At the end of the night, we ordered tequila shots three times — the first round was €15 each. WITHOUT ASKING, STAFF SWITCHED THE LAST TWO ROUNDS TO €175 PER SHOT, adding €1050 to the bill. We refused to pay the inflated price and asked to pay for the standard tequila we had ordered. They immediately offered 50% off, which showed they knew it was wrong, but after 30 minutes of arguing we told them to call the police.

When the police arrived, they told us we had to either pay and file a complaint later or find a deal. Once the police left, the staff said the 50% deal was no longer available and that we would stay there all night until we paid the full bill. One person even told us that in another place, security would have strangled us to make us pay.

We were locked inside for 3 hours, with the toilets closed, and not allowed to leave. They brought out a large dog and warned us not to approach it because he s not people friendly ! I was genuinely afraid they might set it on us. While we were sitting on the stairs, they sprayed water on them. We had cash of €660 ( more than enough for the correct bil) , but they refused. Due to a card issue, we had to call a friend to transfer more money.

After 3 hours of intimidation, threats, and being held against our will, they finally gave us 20% off.

And guess what we checked the menu ; this price is not listed on the menu !!

HERE IS MY REPLY TO THE GEBTELMAN ;

• The waiter took our orders at the table as he did all the evening. We could not see the prices he entered on the PDA. • I had never heard of that particular tequila before that night and it was beyond my budget. • We specifically asked for “SAME TEQUILA ” but in the end we were served a much more expensive one .

Regarding the mention of “irony and disrespect,” I would simply share one example: one of your staff said to my friend;

“ YOU WEAR A LUXURY WATCH AND YOU ARE NEGOTIATING A BILL WITH € 1000 MORE ??‘‘ I replied in shock “We work very hard to earn our living and we do not throw money away.”

These people are funny and ridiculous. They charge high because they have a nice view and to be fair the place is beautiful but don’t get fooled Gold is in wrong hands sometimes. They are careless with the customers, poor service starting from the guys in the entrance to the waitress. I have visited other places around the world and trust me if you treat people by appearance you don’t deserve respect.In order to run an excellent service and to have a 3 to 5 star review you really need to educate your staff or please send them to other small restaurants and bars so they can learn they will show customer service. You all are not well educated enough about customer service all of you work there and your job is to treat each of your customers with the same respect from the ones with reservations to the ones that just pay for a drink . Be smart enough to explain your customers which areas they will have access and which ones they can’t instead of you all telling the customers every time “Do you have reservation ? You can’t be here this is only for people with reservations. The way you said things make a huge difference . You all know I’m telling you the truth and the people reading this review will identify. I heard and saw people well dressed and everything that they were told the same I saw their disappointment and making comments after the staff working there were so rude . I saw it different times , come on you guys kill the good vibes you guys go by $ not by providing great customer service . You are my number one place that really make my stomach 🤮. The ones that get fool by appearance will agree with you but trust me we still exist the ones that enjoy the great things that money can’t buy. Mykonos is Gorgeous and if you get the chance to come visit please know that is a ton of places that you can enjoy for free . And if you pay 💰 to enjoy quality please choice a different place , I can’t go on details but believe me no one deserves to come to visit from a around the world to be mistreated miserable for some people that don’t have an idea about how much it means to come here just to have a memorable time.
