We recently visited Thioni Restaurant and our overall experience was excellent! The restaurant is highly recommended, especially for the quality of the main courses and the outstanding service.
Starters and Main Courses – High Quality and Fresh!
We thoroughly enjoyed everything served to us. We started the meal with a Greek Salad and the "Salad of the Island", both of which were delicious, fresh, and full of flavor.
For our main courses, we ordered Tomato Pasta and Mushroom Gnocchi. Both dishes were simply superb, very fresh, and of a high culinary standard. The quality ingredients and precise execution were evident.
Desserts – A Hit and a Miss
We finished our meal with two desserts. The Espresso Brownie was delicious and unique, providing a sweet and enjoyable end to the meal. In contrast, the Cheesecake was not successful at all. It felt as though they "forgot" to put cheese in it, as it consisted mainly of whipped cream, which was disappointing and slightly detracted from the overall impression.
Bottom Line: Great Food and Excellent Service
Despite the disappointing cheesecake, Thioni is a very good restaurant. The main courses were high-quality, tasty, and satisfying, and the service was excellent throughout the meal—the staff was courteous and professional.
Overall: Highly recommended! We would definitely return to enjoy their excellent...
Read moreOverpriced pretentious nonsense located in a hotel that appears to be confused because of the half dozen or so bars and restaurants contained within it (staff themselves were confused too). Signage outside makes entrance to the restaurant difficult. Do not waste your time.
I had the lamb with eggplant. Lamb lollipops were a tiny portion, cut by barbarians lacking in basic knife skills. Lamb was served on a eggplant puree which left the blessed vegetable cruelly rendered into baby food.
Sagnaki shrimp starter was milquetoast, overcooked shrimp with tomato sauce and overly pungent cheese which destroyed any balance in the dish. Had the same dish off of a beachside taverna in Tolo prepared the authentic way and was about four times larger in portion and about a quarter of the price.
My partner had the sea Bass with mixed vegetables. The zucchini were cleverly placed upright in mini columns using the puree as 'glue.' Yep, that asinine. You can find a better place to eat in Mykanos just about anywhere, e.g. Kastro...
Read moreWe dined here on a recommendation. To reach this restaurant we had wandered through the vibrant higgledy-piggledy narrow streets of pretty Mykonos town. Many of the restaurants, bars and cafes we passed were lively with early season holiday makers enjoying drinks and dinner. When we reached Thioni it was empty of clientele, this always sets the alarm bells ringing. We all ordered the lamb main course which was served in nouveau cuisine style. The food was delicious but expensive. My family thought the views and surroundings were impressive, personally it seemed a bit over rated to me. I'm sure we could have got the same for less in a more buzzing...
