We were recommended this place, and I'm glad we were because I'm not sure we would have found it on our own. This jewel of a restaurant is tucked away on one of the side streets of Nafplio, but you still need to show up right when they open if you want a good table outside.
Our meal started with the house white wine (excellent, to no surprise), fried sardines, and marinated anchovies. My wife has ordered a version of these sardines everywhere we have gone in Greece and she felt that this was one of, if not the best version of this dish she had on our trip. I can say the same for anchovies, which I also have ordered at every chance I have had.
For our mains our server recommended the lamb with artichoke and moussaka. On any other day, the lamb would be an absolute winner of a dish, but today the moussaka became one of the best things I have EVER ordered. If you come here please try this and let me know if you feel the same. I've been to other restaurants since and have not found any version that compares to what I ordered here.
Top to bottom, from the service, to the food and drink, atmosphere, and price, this was one our all-time culinary...
Read moreIt used to be my favorite place in Nafplio for a simple Greek meal. Not anymore. Unfortunately the place is sold and new owners ruined it. The service is disastrous. 3 members of the team passed us pretending we are not there, despite that most of the tables were free. After 8 minutes (yes, I counted) we were finally given a table without even hello and welcome. Menu is confusing, combining Greek/Italian and god knows what. BTW, rather typical for the area. To be on the safe side, we ordered tzaziki/Greek salad and lamb Kleftiko. Basically the dishes which is impossible to screw up. Well, they managed. Kleftiko (lamb baked in the oven) was a pile of bones with some fat on it. Greek salad had hardly any olive oil and tomatoes smelled funky.
While paying the bill, I automatically left 10% and not even “thank you “.
Good bye Noulis, I hope you enjoy your well deserved retirement. But it’s a real loss...
Read moreAll the food here was great, although the actual flaming saganaki - which we wanted to order to defy someone who told us it was only an American thing - seems to be off the menu.
We were told to get 3 or 4 mezze... We got six. This was a mistake as portions were really large, even to us as Americans! We got cheese with walnuts, Greek salad, meatballs, grilled veggies, bread, and fries and it was... Thanksgiving like portions.
Everything was very fresh and prepared really well. The cheese came with... some small veggies or fruit cooked in wine which was a really new taste for us. Salad was super fresh. The fries were massive planks of potatoe, sliced lengthwise and probably enough for 4 people. There were two of us and we finished them...
Service was great and its a nice spot on a side road with good indoor and outdoor options. We were told it could take a while but all our food came...
