Kastro Karima — Restaurant in Municipality of Nafplio

The Hubster and I were in town and want a nice lunch. We decided to visit a restaurant that we've never been to so we traveled up a street we seldom go. We've lived in the area for 4.5 years and never noticed Karima Kastro - a hidden jewel in Nafplio. It was around 2pm, a lot of people walking about but no one was dinning out doors at Karima Kastro. Huuuum. This is some times my red flag. But, I ordered the green salad of rocket, nuts, apricot and dressing with a side of potato croquettes. I was so happy to find that they offer a semi sweet white wine. The Hubster had a lamb slovaki that came with fries and a freshly squeezed orange juice. Our waiter Niko was very professional. He was kind in dealing with my NY/NJ accented Greeklish. Lol. The meals were perfectly prepared and presented. I promise that you will be pleased. Finally, I later found out that this is the favorite restaurant of a lady who owns a shop in town and I saw another of my favorite shopkeepers picking his lunch from Karima Kastro. Mediocre food, we ordered soutzoukakia, kalamari and ntakos salad. Portions and prices are good, taste wise nothing special. I know a lot will disagree with the following and for the most it will not matter, for me though it does matter that in a period where nationalism in Turkey is on the rise on the ground among ordinary people and Turkey openly threatens Greece , ordering products made in Turkey and supporting in such a way Turkish economy is sth I cannot swallow easily. Below a wet tissue the restaurant offers to its customers (smart design I have to admit) made in Turkey . I wonder ...couldn’t the restaurant choose Greek suppliers or in any case non Turkish suppliers? Sorry, but I cannot approve this. On the positive side they offered us a bottle of water for free and also mpaklava at the end...this I shall recognise!
