We went for a fine dining experience and honestly, it was mostly a disappointment.
The olive oil and bread they served at the beginning were actually quite nice.Fresh, super good quality oil (!) and decent bread. One of the better parts of the meal, honestly.
The Tabbouleh Cous Cous was just average. I’m not trying to be rude, but I’ve had something very similar on a Transavia flight (yes, the airline!). I did appreciate the use of seasonal veggies, though I’m pretty sure peas in August are out of season in Greece?
Now, the Seabass Ceviche was the one highlight. Super fresh, citrusy, the fish had a great texture and the broth was delicious. We really enjoyed that one!
Then came the Spaghetti Bolognaise. Underwhelming is the only word. Just your basic pasta dish, nothing unique, no twist, no depth and definitely not what you'd expect at this price point. Plus, it didn’t even look like the photo on their site with the creamy cheese on top... I've had pasta in Italy. This wasn’t it.
The Orzo Crayfish though… that’s where things went off the rails. I had about half and it was okay. A bit too salty and it came to the table cold (while the bolognaise was still steaming?) but fine. Then I took a bite and something hard cracked in my teeth. I figured maybe a peppercorn? Took another bite.Same thing. Turns out they hadn’t properly cleaned the crayfish. (See photo for the super unpleasant intestines.) So, as it turns out, what I ate was bits of sand from the untouched intestines of the crayfish.
Anyway, under normal circumstances, I would’ve asked the staff if that was some sort of weird plating choice and given them the chance to explain. But by that point, the staff had already been unacceptable on multiple levels (language, tone, behavior towards stray cats) , so we just decided to leave as quickly as possible.
I’m sharing this in the hope that anyone planning to give this place a try won’t hesitate to demand a refund or at the very least a replacement dish if they experience anything like what we did. For the price and the image they’re selling, basic standards are the...
Read moreOn a suggestion from a friend we located this restaurant and made a reservation for 7:30. Always a good time to make them as the locals and other tourists seem to dine at 8:00. Located down by the waterfront where the yachts are and walking pedestrians trek. Started off with a calming round of cocktails before we even started to consider our menu choices. Good selections of liquors to choose from. After some good conversation, we decided to take a look at the menu to order our dinner. We started off with a spinach salad for the table as we tend not to get as many vegetables on our trip :-). The table ended up ordering two prime cuts of beef with fantastic Greek potatoes, and the ladies ordered, the salmon and the calamari pasta. When the food arrived, it was hot and very delicious. Before dinner, local bread with olive oil and a yogurt, chive dipping sauce was served which was also yummy. Everybody had no problem, finishing their meals as the food was very good. Unfortunately, no room was left for dessert as we wanted to walk through the street to discover local gelato shops. Service was very friendly and attentive. This restaurant has been here since 2019 and I hope they continue to thrive as it’s a good addition to the local economy. We would definitely...
Read moreWOW! If The Wild Duck was in Central Ohio, USA we’d be a regular! Our hotel offered us a complimentary glass of wine. Since the restaurant/lounge was just across the street, and it looked very nice, we decided to give it a look. We presented our card and were offered choices of several wines, or beers. We asked if we could sit outside on the patio and the bartender inquired for us. They were able to seat us outside with our complimentary wine and shortly after brought us 2 delicious chicken croquettes… also complimentary. They were so tasty and everyone was so professional and friendly that we decided there was no reason to ‘explore’ the area restaurants and asked to see the dinner menu. We started with the potato gnocci with mushroom cream sauce. I usually don’t prefer cream sauce, but my wife does. The gnocci were soft pillows that melted in our mouths and the sauce was AMAZING. So good that we were both tearing off hunks of the foccia to wipe up the plate! Our shared entree and dessert were also unique and delicious followed by a delicious complimentary housemade digestif that was similar to what I’d call a orangecello. We’re in town 4 nights and we might just find ourselves exploring their menu...
