Decor good, vibe, atmosphere good initially Menu ok, not as exciting as it sounds or promises. In the last 4 years I have eaten here before with no issues but, tonight was frankly shambolic. I don't mind paying for good, well prepared fresh food or waiting a reasonable amount of time for it to be cooked fresh. Expensive or cheap basics are same seat, offer menu, takes drinks order ( which they never asked until the came to take food order and we asked them) 50 plus minutes wait for a starter unacceptable ask any reputable restauranteur they will tell you the same, another 50+ minutes between starter and mains unacceptable, especially when delivered with ingredients missing, no Julienne carrots with lamb shank, when queried brought me 4 thin slices of sliced carrots, Grilled vegetable salad had 2 lovely pieces of grilled halloumi on a bed of warm lettuce? (not so good). A few slivers of peppers, odd piece of onion in there, pleasant dressing but certainly not as advertised. My lamb was good when it finally arrived but, essentially no better than the Greek Kleftiko I've had cheaper elsewhere in Sidari and my husband's fillet steak was I would say more medium rare than medium but, again was good when it finally arrived. Not just our table were experiencing issues the two couples adjacent to us commented the same and other people simply walked out who had been promised a table. The couple next to us waited almost an hour for 3/4 pieces of garlic bread to share. Staff did not keep customers updated about orders or if there was a problem and when politely questioned as to why it had taken so long for any food to arrive the reply to be frank was rude, dismissive, condescending and unacceptable. To be told by the head waiter "This is not a fast food restaurant" implying and assuming what exactly what about his customers? A good, competent kitchen can do 150 covers easy a night I know because I have worked front of house in a similar establishment in a very busy resort. Our bill for 2 x 2 courses each, a salad and wine came to €96 euros. Fortunately for me my money spends anywhere and I have eaten better and less expensively in Sidari on many occasions. Hive on this occasion what you delivered fell well short of what...
Read moreBooked months in advanced for my birthday with the owner, when we got to corfu called in to change the day as unwell. we saw who we presume is the owner write it in the book. On arrival, different staff, they didn't have us on the booking list and no table reserved!
Had choice of 2 tables in poor locations. Got seated, given menus. No me sion of any specials.
Served out drinks. Both opted for belly pork. It took a while to arrive and when it was served it looked like something you'd get at home. Wasn't nicely presented, veg was hard. Tiny pot if gravy. We were let down with presentation as photos advertised on FB and Instagram make it look a fancy place to eat which is why it's more expensive than the rest of sidari's restaurants. The meat was so dry we could hardly cut through it. I tried chewing it but couldn't. I can only digest really soft tender meats since surgery. I tried the veg but it wasn't nice. Gave my entire meal to my husband as he's a dust bin and will eat anything even if it's not great, because he's paying for it.
Everything's over priced and not executed well. Your outside in the elements, food is Luke warm at best on arrival and stone cold in a minute.
Really let down as we researched restaurants to find the best for a special birthday meal. Sorry the Hive, you just didn't deliver. Would not go back or recommend to anyone. Very bust, staff rushing around. Didn't bother to complain, could see with our eyes what other people's food was like. Don't expect freshly prepared and cooked food. It's pre made and reheated or out of the freezer.
The drinks were OK apart from being considerably more than...

Firstly, I have to say the decor, atmosphere and music here is very nice, lulling you into a sense you’re going to have a very pleasant experience…
HOWEVER, the food is awful and I wonder if the chefs have ever had any formal training (or if their experience stated on the first page of the menu is true at all!).
We had: Mushrooms with Garlic and Thyme (actually closer to a balsamic vinegar soup with some sort of squid in there too) Calamari stuffed with feta (essentially one big blob of feta chewing gum) Fried courgette balls (genuinely ok - would recommend if you end up here by some unfortunate circumstance) Fresh sea bass with a sweet chilli sauce, potatoes and runner beans.. (this is when the show really began, as we discovered the sea bass was nothing close to fresh, and the sweet chilli was genuinely just the sauce you can find in Asda, and had been mixed through everything… not quite the 20 euro dish we’d hoped for) 1x glass white wine (served at a delightful room temperature - haven’t had that since my student days - would not recommend).
Oh and I forgot! When we asked the waiter if there was anything Greek on the menu, as you might hope for when going on holiday to Greece, he passionately informed us that the restaurant had NEVER SERVED Greek food and it’s NOT THAT KIND OF PLACE. So based on this my recommendation, if you’re considering visiting the Hive, would be to visit the Real Greek in Soho if you want the authentic experience.
Total bill: 72 euros (+ reputational damage to the...
