July 30, last night in Crete after a 7 weeks long staying we dined at this restaurant, one of the many facing the basin of the old venitian port. We sat at one of the outermost tables with a nice view on the lighthouse and the passage of the people.
The food list is dominated by fish and seafood but some meat is available. The choice is fair and good but aligned to the other nearby restaurants. The wine list is decent with about forty labels, mostly greek wines and two or three champagne.
We were four and ordered few starters to share and three grilled lobsters with fries and a steak. The starters were good, the lobsters were not good as well because grilled two or three minutes too much making them too dry and stringy, and this is quite disappointing!
We also ordered a bottle of greek white wine, a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Assyrtiko, can't remember the label but was pretty good and not expensive at all, about ⬠29.
Service was somewhat fuzzy and not well managed, common issues in the most of greek restaurants, indeed!
In the end: nice and good, a little below the average compared to other nearby restaurants.
Bill was little in excess of ⬠300, not expensive at all for the food served.
My further note on the 3 to 4 * I rated here:
I rate restaurants leveraging on my experience of thousands worldwide, rating is given considering peer restaurants, I mean I won't compare a taverna with a 2 Michelin star.
There are far too many restaurants ranking 4 or 5 * for no reasons but the lack of taste of the average customers instead of ranking 3, 2 or less. Why? Because far too many people are used to eat fast food, processed food, take-away or delivery and when in holidays everything is so beautiful and so good, hope you're not in that bunch, therefore their judgement is biased by the situation.
Without being mean I just write fair reviews, to be a full 5 *, whatever is the restaurant category, both property, kitchen and staff have to be committed in the e effort to excellence, 4 * means very good, an average 3 * means you will eat good food and no more but something is not good enough. Less than 3 is a definitive "NO GO".
Missing a correct evaluation and a fair rating of restaurants and places, in their context, every guide loses its value and people aren't able to make a clear and well directed choice basing on reviews but are mislead by the...

We were met by the owner Pedro's who was very amicable and offered us a couple of options for a table. We sat outside as it was a nice evening, overlooking the harbour. We perused the menu opting for a bottle of pink blackbird Rose with bread and tomato and olive oil dip and mushrooms in honey. We chose the salmon in lemon sauce and Cod initially, but when we came to order Anna offered us 800gms of sea bass for 2 so we went with her recommendation. We were not disappointed. Firstly the mushrooms in honey were generous in portion size and delicious but the real highlight was the Sea bass for 2. Ilt came with a very elegant presentation and the fish was filleted and cooked to perfection. It was deboned for us which we both appreciated. Sorry we should have taken a photo but we were too excited to dive in and taste it. We were not disappointed it was moist, flavoursome and complimented by the lemon sauce and array of veg and new potatoes. All in all the meal and dining experience was a delight. You would be foolish not to try this place out when in Rethymnon. We sat outside as it was a nice evening but the interior is lovely too ( see pics.) Thank you Pedros and Anna for a super meal and lovely dining...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMe and my partner came here twice, once for lunch, once for dinner When we came for lunch the food was honestly excellent, I had pasta with lobster and my partner the grilled tuna, they were both very very good and also the price was good, everyone is very kind and they always checked up on us to make sure everything was okay and offered us some fresh fruit that was very good as well When we came for dinner, the service always good, the food was good but not as much as last time, I unfortunately spotted some shrimp in my lobster pasta, and my partnerās steak that he asked to be cooked medium, was well done in some spots and medium/well in other spots We are not the type to make a big fuss, but tbh I am disappointed to have paid for lobster and had shrimp in my plate, if there wasnāt enough I wouldve ordered something else and I wouldāve appreciated the honesty instead of kind of trying to fool me, also they are aware I am italian I know the difference between shrimps and lobster very wellš„² apart from this I wouldnāt say is a bad restaurant tho, for starters the fried anchovies were absolutely good and my partner got the cheese balls and he says theyāre very good, maybe is better to go when is not too busy Overall Iād come here again but Iāll ask to see the lobster first before...
