Truly awful restaurant, I would avoid at all costs! I can almost guarantee any other restaurant across all the Greek Islands would be better than this waste of space - It’s such a shame the lovely building has gone to waste.
Me and my family ordered our food, when it arrived they didn’t bring out some of the sides that were included with the meals, when I pointed it out the brushed it off as a mistake. Secondly the food was terrible, so that’s enough to warrant a one star anyway. Easily the worst meal I’ve had during my visit to Rhodes.
Anyway, that happens, but then to make matters worse the waiters were just super lazy. When I asked for the bill, he just waved his hand towards the entrance and told me to go inside and sort it myself 😂.
By this point I’m just brushing the shoddy service and seasoned slop under the carpet. Finally the bill arrives and we’ve been almost double charged on some items and when I pointed this out the waiter just gives me a thousand-yard stare like I’ve just dropped a horrible insult on me. He then just keeps saying ‘No, no pay.’
It eventually escalates to the ‘manager’, my mum goes over to try and get the bill amended, but instead of a civil resolution with a well-trained restaurant professional she’s greeted by an incredibly plump and aggressive middle aged Greek bloke who essentially threatens my mum (A small lady in her 50’s) with some pretty unpleasant verbal abuse.
After I ask him to relax and give his mouth a rest, Jabba the Hut tries taking me outside for a fist fight (bear in mind his little kids were also present) - All over some overcharged food items….. Fortunately it doesn’t escalate to that because I’ve got a baseline level of rationale.
Anyway, long story short; I would avoid this gaff like the plague. Truly horrible food and even worse company. The only reason I would go here is if you fancy some light entertainment and enjoy aggressive altercations...

If you’re looking for a beautiful place to eat in town, Ippotikon might catch your eye with its charming medieval facade and seemingly friendly staff. Don’t be fooled – this is just a carefully laid trap for unsuspecting tourists.
At first, you’ll be drawn in by the decor and the welcoming attitude of the waiters. But once you sit down, it becomes immediately clear that choosing this place was a huge mistake.
Starters arrive at different times – each dish comes out as it’s ready, so forget about enjoying your meal together. The service is incredibly slow, and they don’t even notice if your table is missing cutlery. We had to call the waiter multiple times, and the fork we asked for took over 10 minutes to arrive.
The food? Not terrible, but absolutely not worth the price. It’s painfully overpriced compared to other excellent places nearby.
But here comes the real scam: when you ask for the bill, it takes 10 more minutes, and when it finally comes, it’s handwritten in Greek. Conveniently, they’ll then inform you that the card machine is broken. Apparently, it’s been “broken” for months (according to many other reviews – wish we had read them earlier!).
There’s an ATM just below the restaurant – how convenient! That ATM charges you 20€ in fees, and you can guess where that money ends up.
It’s clear that this place is avoiding taxes and scamming customers. They’ll pretend to be friendly, offer you a complimentary digestivo at the end (like literally every restaurant in Greece), but after paying well over 100€ for two people, it feels like a joke.
The problem isn’t just bad service – it’s a deliberate setup to rip off tourists and hide transactions. Avoid this place at all costs. I hope more people read this review and don’t fall into the same...

We were looking for a nice restaurant to have dinner in old town Rhodes. We found this place and even though the menu wasn’t particularly extensive we decided to give it a go. We were led up to the balcony and had a nice view.
We placed our orders: water for the table (price unknown), Two margarita pizzas (€14 each), spaghetti bolognaise (€13.50), 2 Cokes (price unknown). We were asked what bread we wanted for the table (garlic, pitta or plain bread with tzatziki) we said garlic bread and tzatziki. We assumed this would be FREE as he just asked what type of bread we would want.
The food arrived the pizzas were FROZEN REHEATED PIZZAS they were like the type of pizza you get out of the local shop. The spaghetti Bolognaise was average. We asked to pay the bill at the end and we were told to go down stairs to pay card.
There was a young waiter who was calculating the bill with a calculator and a hand written receipt in Greek. We were allowed to pay card however after we had left we thought about the price of the bill (€75!!!!!!) AND we were asked to give a tip. We were also given a complimentary bottle of alcohol.
After realising the price of the bill compared to what we got we had a look at the menu. The apparently not free bread says €3 on the menu but just below there is a 20 with the 0 tipexed out…?????
Don’t eat at this place if you don’t want to be overcharged and fall into a tourist scam. NOT...
