Booking Review We took public transport from the airport for a few euros (you can use your phone to pay with tap and go). Ride takes about 30-40 minutes. It puts you off in the middle of Rhodes Town. From there it was a 15 minute walk to the property. We use only backpacks to travel. If you are carting a suitcase, you should contact Katerina, the owner of the property, about arranging transportation. We travel a lot and had a difficult time finding the property because of Rhodes’ twisty-turny streets. You will be walking over some cobblestone streets and walkways and pulling luggage might not be the best. Once you find the door for the property (there are signs on the walls that you will see), ring the buzzer.
Katerina was a supremely welcoming host. We were greeted with water and figs. She sat us down to go over the property and things to do in Rhodes. She provided a very helpful map of the entire island and Rhodes Town. She sent us a text with many recommended sites and restaurants. Finally, she checked with us about any food allergies so her provided breakfast would not be any trouble. She showed us to our room describing the renovations that had taken place to make the ancient building into her beautiful boutique property.
We had a problem with one of our sightseeing tours we booked, and Katerina spoke to the tour representative on the phone to help us straighten it all out. She even told us if we were going to buy any expensive souvenirs, to call her and she would get us a better price.
You really feel like you are staying in an ancient stone castle. The room preserved much of the old construction while updating it with a very comfortable bed & pillows, plenty of lights, a safe, a cold A/C, a mini fridge, and a nice bathroom with a big shower. There were waters, a beer, and a couple of snacks provided.
I had forgotten we had paid for breakfast. And, wow, what a surprise. Katerina and her husband served us the most exquisite breakfast we have had on our European trip yet. I can’t type out everything that was provided, but I will post a picture. There is something for everyone. Eggs, meats, cheeses, fruits, yogurt, nuts, coffee, juice, tea, & water. Unbelievable! The breakfast reminded me of a bed and breakfast in the US where the owner is preparing and serving.
The property is nestled deep within Rhodes Town making it very quiet. You are right around the corner from great restaurants recommended by Katerina. The best one we ate at on the last night was 2 minutes from the property. You are 4 minutes from Rhodes Old Town Square and about a 1000 shops and restaurants. You are 12 minutes away from where the boats leave for Med excursions. The boat excursions are much better than staying at one of expensive resorts on the northwestern coastline because the water there has big waves making it unswimmable. The boats are better and you are closer to them at Katerina’s property. (She also provided towel we could use on the boat). The property is located at a very central location without being in the hustle and bustle of the city center.
We had to leave very early on our last day. Breakfast is usually served beginning at 8AM, but Katerina graciously brought a small breakfast the night before for our early morning departure. She even left a small take away gift for us. This was completely unexpected and very much appreciated!
Gracious host, beautiful room, unbelievable breakfast, and a central location. What more could you ask for! Thank...

Read moreThis was my wife’s and I second stay at the family run Porolithos hotel and we can’t wait to go back. |Katerina and her husband Zafeiris are the kindest people you could ever meet. They have done a magnificent job of restoring this beautiful building which is located within the old city walls. You know you are staying in a historic building which has been designed and furnished with love and care. |Our room retained all the old character and charm but still had all the modern facilities of a/c, safe, small fridge, lovely bathroom, smart tv, large comfortable double bed.||The hotel is so unique as it is in such close proximity to all the historical sights of Rhodes Town and shops, restaurants, bars etc but is still in a street which is so tranquil. Its only 2 minutes walk away from shops, restaurants and the busy city centre.||Katerina welcomed us on our arrival with welcome drinks and a local delicacy of quince to taste.|Before we were shown to our room, we were given maps of the Island and Old Rhodes Town and information on the best places to visit, restaurants, trips etc.||The breakfast at this hotel is outstanding and is something to look forward to. Our morning breakfasts were beautifully presented and consisted of various meats, eggs, tomatoes, cheese, yoghurt, granola, nuts, fruits, honey, apple pastries, a variety of breads and spreads plus ham and cheese toasties. I am going to try and post some pictures we took of the breakfast as it looked and tasted so beautiful.||On our last day Katerina arranged for a driver with a golf cart to collect us and our luggage from the hotel (f.o.c.) and take us through the streets of the Old City a short distance to the taxi she had arranged for us waiting for us just outside the city walls (as taxis are not allowed in).||Katerina and Zafeiris go beyond what any other hotel does in providing a top class service in every aspect.|If you are looking for a quality place to stay in Rhodes Town - this is the best choice! |There are only 5 rooms though so it’s best to book as soon as you can. |Katerina personally looks after all the bookings which can be made direct by their website...
