Let me start by saying I honestly don't understand how so many people gave this place a decent review. I honestly think none of these people have the concept of meat and how it should be cooked. The restaurant surely didn't... When we googled a place to eat because I wanted to steak this place came up with a lot of positive reviews and relatively decent pricing, so I thought BONUS! So first orders we got seated and then nobody came and we watched two other tables that came in after us get served. So I went and approached the waitress then came over very quickly so I won't give her that... I ordered the steak because that's what I wanted and my date were the pork chop because that's what she wanted. Both of them on the menu looks like a nice thick cut of wheat. I go so far as to say a half inch plus and thickness.... in the picture! I ordered my steak medium rare because I like some red and some blood but warm on like rare which tends to be more cold... We also added an appetizer of a eggplant salad... Not a horrible amount of time. Later our dishes showed up. Both cuts of meat were MAYBE 5mm thick... AND BOTH WERE THE CONSISTENCY OF SHOE LEATHER...the steak even tasted like a shoe... And that's actually giving shoes a bad name in this case... But it did have some pepper on it. More like a pepper shoe leather steak. Now this is where I give them the extra star and that's because I spit the disgusting piece of meat out and left it on the steak when I sent it back... I should have disposed of it in a napkin... Although that would have been disrespectful to the napkin. During all this, my date managed to eat her piece of pork leather...and then finally the eggplant salad arrived...which was decent enough so that also attributes to the 2 stars.. Finally, the man who I assume was the owner showed up with my new steak... Did not say a word or apologize for first steak being so bad... Just set it down and looked at me... I mean glared at me. I cut into the steak and saw red so I took a bite... Absolutely zero seasoning, not salt. Not pepper. Nothing... But it was red so I said okay.. he said nothing and walked away.. as I started to cut into the steak I realized wow it's not cooked. They literally seared it... My guess a minute or so on each side in a hot pan and put a sear to the meat.. but did not cook it... Now now the one thing with me is I actually like my meat cooked rare R A W rear... And if we were at a decent restaurant I might have enjoyed it...I Love, tartar... But at this restaurant and the quality of their meat, I would not trust it to not poison me being cooked so I ate the parts that were semi-cooked... which by the way I had to salt and pepper every bite because they did not season it... And i took what was left to feed the cats in the neighborhood because basically what they gave me was cat food. In the end I went to pay my bill and the same older gentleman. Basically without even looking up at me wrote out the bill and to me not saying a word. Not looking up.. I paid him not saying a word... He handed me my receipt. Not saying a word not looking up and I left... Now now as an American I guess we do have a little bit of higher expectations of customer service because in America service is tip-based. You don't in this service if you don't get a good tip... But honestly anywhere in the world and she took something poorly and a customer sends it back a simple. Sorry... Hope you enjoy your new one.. I will assume should be standard operating procedure but I guess not. So all that being said, this place is pretty much a dump with all the other restaurants in town do yourself a favor... Unless you are on a budget or don't really understand the difference between a well-cooked piece of meat and a poorly cooked piece of meat. Just avoid this place. It'll be better for all our sakes. That being said, the young man who was... The busboy and food runner was very nice and was the only redeeming quality of this restaurant. Let the fact that I took All this time to write this show you how serious I am...
Read morePosted by Colin Carter You really did make it the perfect day for my 70th birthday. Thank you. I wanted to celebrate the day in Rhodes with my family and have a relaxing Greek meal. Trying to avoid the obviously tourist restaurants near to the gates of the city where the touts wait for the cruise ship 🚢 custom I did just a bit of internet investigation to see what previous customers had recommended and found enough honest positive reviews to wander a bit further into the back streets of the Old City to find your wonderful little restaurant. Relaxed and friendly service surrounded by locals who would not be there unless you were a 'real' restaurant. A restaurant that has enough local trade to stay open 'off season' and not need a tout on the 'main drag' to get custom in. Said to the wife this morning that often planed days, although nice, do not always meet expectation. Well selecting your place was the cherry on my birthday cake and meant that the day actually exceeded expectation. Thanks a lot for just being a good restaurant. Please...
Read morePrices are great but I didn’t feel like this restaurant lived up to the hype.
We popped in for the evening service and were seated very quickly. A few couples arrived just after us and had to wait some time to be seated, so it does get busy!
Compared to a lot of other restaurants the prices are pretty good and they don’t skimp on the portions. Chips taste great and they’re happy to provide anything else you need for the meal (like ketchup). However, we ordered the chicken schnitzel and lamb chops and didn’t feel like our dishes were especially notable (the chicken schnitzel was quite stringy and chewy for example). Maybe all their food awards are based on other dishes but in my opinion if a restaurant is winning awards three years in a row then everything they serve should be spectacular.
I would recommend visiting this place. You can expect to receive great service and pay good prices, but temper your expectations on the food if you’re visiting because of all the...
