Welcome to Musevi Şehitler Meydanı, or Jewish Martyrs' Square, located in the Jewish Quarter of the Old City of Rhodes. This square holds a special place in the collective memory and history of the island, as it's dedicated to the Jewish community of Rhodes, which suffered greatly during World War II.
The square is situated near the Kahal Shalom Synagogue, one of the oldest synagogues in Greece. Before the war, Rhodes had a thriving Jewish community with roots dating back to the medieval period. However, during World War II, the community was decimated when over 1,600 Jews from Rhodes and the nearby island of Kos were deported to Auschwitz by the Nazis in 1944. Very few survived.
Today, Musevi Şehitler Meydanı serves as a quiet space of remembrance and reflection. It's a poignant reminder of the diverse religious and cultural heritage of Rhodes and the tragic events that unfolded during the war.
If you're interested, the nearby Kahal Shalom Synagogue also houses a Jewish Museum, which delves deeper into the history of the Jewish community on the island. The museum displays photographs, ritual objects, and other artifacts that tell the story of the community’s life and its tragic end.

A fruit smoothie and medium beer was €15 which isn't horrific but you'll find the same for half the price within spitting distance. We had to ask for the bill repeatedly before they gave it to us and when we left 2 other tables were arguing over the cost. The garden is worth a visit on a hot trip to old town but stay away from the restaurants in...

They are owned by some local maffia and giving an amazing bill, which doesnt correspond at all to the menu. Go there only if you are young, fit and ready to fight.. Familys, older people and people looking for a good time should avoid this place as much...
