Nimmos is a charming family-run restaurant that really captures the spirit of Rhodes. The food selection is impressive, everything we tried was delicious, and the portions are absolutely massive, no exaggeration. They have a cozy rooftop terrace and a lovely garden, but it does get crowded, which speaks to the quality. Prices are more than fair for the quality and quantity. Friendly and fast service, and a cozy vibe. If you're looking for authentic Greek food in Rhodes Old Town, this place is absolutely worth a visit. I highly recommend the chicken gyros, just come hungry!
We had the chicken gyros, thinly sliced, juicy meat served over crispy fries with fresh tomato, onion, soft pita bread, and a refreshing tzatziki dip. The flavor was well balanced, savory but not overwhelming.
The chicken souvlaki came with a perfectly grilled skewer, tender meat, grilled vegetables, rice, fries, pita, and tzatziki, a full plate that looked and tasted great.
The seafood platter for two was incredibly generous: grilled shrimp, crispy sardines, octopus, mussels, and calamari, all fresh and flavorful, served with fries and vegetables. A must-try if you love seafood.
We also tried the moussaka, which had a rich, layered taste, soft vegetables, creamy béchamel, and hearty flavor in every bite. A warm, comforting dish...
Read moreOriginally we did not want to eat here but as we walked by we were addressed if we would like to have a seat. I have a big problem with food allergies so I asked directly if they had anything gluten free. An extra Vagant and happy „of course we do!“ was told in an instant and we were shown all gluten free options and what could be possible to make gluten free - even if not marked as gf. We had a seat and another person came to serve us - I asked again about allergies and also he told me the exact details of the food and what I could eat or not. It was really amazing how well the stuff is lectured about allergies. It gave me an amazing feeling.
The card is also very diverse. You can start with lil snacks for 3 euro or have the extravagant seafood for 90 euro.
Also at the top is a very good outdoor seat!
Only two negative points: It is not good for walk impaired or disabled people in a wheelchair. The way we sit on is very uneven and to access the toilet you need to go up 20 stairs. Also despite having a snack and my man had a main course, the portions were very small. We both weren’t quite full and a bit more food would be good.
All in all 4/5. the food was good, the personal and service extravagant good....
Read moreStaff are proficient in English and are very welcoming. Like all of Rhodes, it is clear that a pleasant customer experience is held in high regard when doing business. Though this can sometimes be washed out by the intensity of a busy evening.
I feel like we got there just in time (we left just before 20.00) to receive a decent customer service.
The food - amazingly, I got the swordfish dish for only €16. The menu may require some savvy, as I ordered melted parmesan and aubergine for a starter, but also ordered pita bread to dip into it which was a smart move. The portion sizes are good and the menu has images of each dish so you know what to expect. The served food reflected these images to a tee.
The service - given the vast amount of options on the menu, there must be a huge amount for the chefs to learn. But what we ordered came out incredibly quickly, and as the place was getting busy. We were very impressed. We even got the bill after a main and an appetizer, and they gave us free mini-dessert 😄
The team at Nimmos earn every penny of their pay, and are deserving of your attention. Give them a try and you'll have...
