I normally do not write bad reviews. My usual motto is to not say anything if I have nothing nice to say. (Read my other reviews to see that this is true.) But I feel compelled to say that this meal was basically inedible. We ordered a tuna roll that had seared tuna and “crab,” but I swear it was “k-crab,” made from some sort of whitefish. It was smothered in sticky sweet brown sauce. Worst sushi roll I’ve ever eaten. The beef and mushrooms “fried rice” wasn’t fried rice at all. It was just white rice and it was covered (actually drenched) with a gloppy brown sauce that was both too sweet AND too salty. The beef was as dry as beef jerky. The spicy edamame was stir fried in . . . you guessed it, a floppy super-sweet brown sauce. We didn’t finish any of the dishes and I felt compelled to eat more than I could stand in order not to seem rude and to avoid any sort of confrontation. But when our waiter (who was sweet and we tipped him week because this wasn’t his fault) asked if all was good when he came to pick up the still nearly full plates, I couldn’t even lie and say all was well. I didn’t say everything was bad (although it was) but chose to focus on the beef and rice. I told him it was too sweet, too salty, and had way too much sauce on it. He thanked me for my honesty and said he’d tell the kitchen so they can improve the dish. When the bill came, we were not comped for anything, revealing it is management’s position that customers should pay even for bad food they cannot and did not eat. And it was EXPENSIVE, on top of it all, adding insult to injury. The place is relatively new, but I sought the disastrous food was due to the restaurant’s newness. I don’t even fault the cooks/chef, as they are likely hired and trained to make the food as the menu planner dictates. But whoever planned and designed this menu doesn’t know a thing about Japanese cuisine and I can’t believe they would serve such awful food without realizing it is awful. If I could give zero stars, I would. One of the worst meals I have had in my entire life. We left...
Read moreIf you are looking for amazing Japanese Cuisine on the Island of Rhodes, Greece. I highly recommend Susanoo Suishi & Cocktails Restaurant located in Old-Town Rhodes, Greece. The food is consistently fresh and is delicious. Upon entering the staff are attentive and deliver outstanding customer service. The menu offers a great selection of appetizers, entrees and drinks. It should be noted I am originally from Dublin, Ireland, lived in the United States for over thirty years, served with the United States Marines all over the world and travelled all over the United States of America. I definitely know a great Japanese Restaurant from all my travels and life experiences. The Restaurant is very clean and has clean restrooms. This Establishment rates five stars and more. A must visit upon your stay on the Island of Rhodes, Greece. I definitely will be returning to this restaurant in the near future. You definitely won’t be...
Read morePleasantly surprised, you never know what to expect from some of these restaurants. After our extreme disappointment from the Palace of the grand master of the Knights, we were looking for a little pick me up.
The restaurant is in a lovely location, with a nice outside seating area, it is clean and looks newly refurbished.
The menu, albeit small, was still intriguing, with some Japanese inspired twists on known classics such as the Japanese Caesar Salad. (Which was delicious).
We also tried the chicken bao buns, which are some of the best I have had yet. The salmon nigiri was really nice, nothing to write home about.
The staff were lovely, friendly, and accommodating. But I think they were a bit distracted (the adjacent restaurant seems to be run but the same people).
I would...
