I am staying nearby so I was hoping this would be my favourite breakfast place for the next 18 days.
Alas, I was somewhat disappointed.
The QR code for the menu has the tiniest print I ever saw in my life so unless you are bugs bunny 🐰and eat carrots all day you will need to ask the waitress what the WiFi code is though it is right in front of your eyes.
The table I sat on was wobbly (had one short leg).
Though I agree with the venue's slogan (it is written on their napkin) "it is not about perfection. It is about originality", I also think that to find a small cardboard paper and place it under the shorter leg does not require much original thinking and that it is like this suggests the slogan is more about promoting than it is about enhancing the customer's satisfaction.
The poached eggs with mushrooms are tasty but I couldn't sense the truffle oil promised on the menu (if it is indeed there the quantity is very small).
The composition of the dish is as liquid as a soup and I am not sure how they expect you to eat it with a knife and fork (sure I could call the waitress from the other end of the yard for a spoon but I managed by dipping the toast because I don't like to be too much of a nuisance).
The bread is sliced white bread that is slightly toasted.
There is nothing wrong with it (though I don't remember the last time I ate sliced sandwich bread. I think it was when I was still in high school) but it isn't something to write home about.
There are no napkins (I had to ask the waitress for some) and a total lack of herbs and spice (there is even no black pepper on the table) but I anticipate this everywhere in Europe and carry my own mix of marjoram, oregano, hot red chilli, grounded black pepper, sumac and dry parsley to improve what is otherwise bland food that is unfortunately the new normal in hipster eateries.
The coffee is creamy and tasty and the service is excellent (hence the fourth star).
Having read some of the reviews my free advice to the owner is he/she spend at least as much time on improving the shortcomings as he/she spends on replying to...
Read moreThe place is considered outdoors but it is very much enclosed and the tables are very very close. That means the irresponsible smokers will smoke in your face. And they do. Also, we sat down, water was served and waiter brought the menu, but no covid-19 control was made. So we left. Plenty of places around to eat and have a cup of tea or coffee that they respect their clients.
Update : Total and utter lies in the response below : The place is enclosed by high buildings and no air blows even if it is windy outside. Furthermore, it is surrounded by a fence so things are much worse. It is not suitable for smoking even if it is typically considered an open place. Tables are very close to each other. One just have to go and take a look. You are lying. You don't know who we were and when we came. We ordered nothing, we left as soon as the waiter came with the menu and realised that no covid control measures are applied. One should just apologise, promise to be more careful next time...
Read moreI came here with a friend in 2023 (see photo of receipt). This restaurant has the BEST coffee I have had in my entire life. Their cappuccinos are amazing. I meant to write a review back then and forgot, but I was thinking about their coffee today and figured I would write a review. Over 2 years have passed and I still think about this place.
We got the bacon benedict and also an egg bowl and açaí bowl… all of the food was amazing. Our server was so kind too. We are from the U.S. and do not speak Greek, and our server was patient with us :) Plus the prices were very good, especially for the quality of the food.
I think about this restaurant so often and wish so badly that I could go back. I would plan an entire vacation around Donkey Garden because I love it so much. If anyone is thinking about going, you...
