A dream! Service is only topped by the taste! And there are gluten free options.

When asked about gluten awareness the waitress immediately reacted aware and told me that she would talk to the kitchen to make sure what's gluten free. She then recommended me three of the main courses.

I had the Hunkar Beyendi and some tzatziki.

The Hunkar Beyendi was a true delight to my taste budds. The meat was tender. The seasoning just right and fulfilling.

The base of the meal was an egg plant puree. Normally I don't like egg plant. But the puree was a true revelation.

Additionally I ordered some tzatziki that refreshed me after a hot day. Also very tasty and not too intense but balanced perfectly.

If you like Raki also have one like me.

Now comes the surprise: When I was finished with the main course I took a break and sunk into thoughts.

Thoughts about how wonderful a dessert would be.

And out of a sudden the waitress stood in front of me with some Greek joghurt with honey and walnuts. A special greeting from the kitchen who wanted to let m know that this was their only gluten free dessert.

They read my mind!

Special thanks to the waitress who welcomed me so warmly that I felt like I met a cousin who I didn't see in a while. She always wore a smile that made me enjoy my holiday even much more.

Also thanks to the rest of the staff that made sure I was feeling great and am served. Actually it was the fastest I was ever served my food at a restaurant.

I could really feel that everyone here works as a family - that's what the waitress told me with great enthusiasm. And I could see it in every little detail.

Kanoula is a restaurant that you leave with a happy lightness.

Thank you all so much!

We are staying in Thessaloniki for 4 days and we have been to this place twice already, if this tells you anything about how much we enjoy the food! First time we went for lunch when we were wandering in the neighborhood and looking for a good restaurant and happened upon this place. Second time we made a reservation and came back to have dinner. Everything we had is so delicious and the dishes are well designed and exceptionally executed. Overall the two times we ate here, our favourites were grilled meatballs and lamb meatballs with tomato and yogurt sauces. The meatballs were so flavorful, fluffy, and juicy. Some of the best meatballs I have ever put in my mouth. The shrimp saganaki we got both times, incredible. Simply, a must get. The tomato and feta sauce is amazing, great also with bread. We also got the moussaka both times. It is the best moussaka i have ever had. It’s fluffy, flavourful, filled with meats and eggplant layers. The perfect bites. Other dishes we recommend are grilled wild mushroom, sautéed mushroom with garlic white wine sauce, “its” pilaf with chicken liver. The service is very good with friendly servers. The atmosphere is nice and cozy. Definitely don’t miss this place if you...

Positive Aspects Even though we didn’t have a reservation, they kindly accommodated us. From the very beginning, they were polite and positive. They were very helpful while explaining the menu, the dish of the day, starter recommendations, wine pairings, and options for children. Constantly checking in with “Is everything okay? Do you need anything?” was a very thoughtful detail.

Areas for Improvement I tried to connect by mentioning that I work in the same field and that I am familiar with Greek cuisine, but this was not acknowledged. The conversation quickly shifted back to helping me choose from the menu. If there is such a thing as being both warm and distant at the same time, this was it. The Hünkar Beğendi was served about 16–20 minutes later than the other dishes. By the time it arrived, my husband and son had already finished their meals and drinks. For such a professional place with so many positive reviews, I found this disappointing. I also expressed my reaction at that moment. Dishes should be served at the same time, or at least guests should be informed in advance if there...
