Museum of the Roman Forum of Thessaloniki — Attraction in Municipality of Thessaloniki

Very nice museum. It took as about 2 hours to see and read all of the educational boards.

In the ticket price you have also Galerius Palace (you can visit it the next day as well on the same ticket).

To visit both sites (and reading all the educational boards in both places) we needed about 5 hours including a break in a café. This Museum is not so boring as typical museums. There are many educational boards, which are colorful and doesn't have a huge wall of text! Just a few interesting sentences about a particular topic and some items associated to it. There is no Internet connection inside the museum as it is underground. As for now only the museal part is open. We were told that the open air part of the agora will be opened in 2025. There are...

When we visited, the site was closed to the public with no signs indicating when it might reopen. The museum itself is small and leans heavily on pottery, though there were some intriguing pieces and facts. The staff trailed us the entire time we were browsing, which felt pretty awkward. Absolutely great place which is full of history, history of thousand years. Sadly, upper, ground part of museum was maintenance works and was close. Underground part was open and was incredibly interesting to visit.
