Cavo D'Oro — Restaurant in Paros Municipality

We decided to eat there because of the beautiful view and because the food on the menu seemed appetizing, but we regret our choise due to the very slow service. We sat down at the table and start to look at the staff to get their attention to get the menu...basically starying at them unsuccesful for about 10 minutes since we sat down They were avoiding any visual contact and seemed to be running away from us. We though, "if the waiter doesn't come in 2 minutes, we will leave" and suddenly the waiter arrived with 2 menu. The waiting for that was already a bad signal. We ordered one pizza, 2 drinks in bottles and a pork gyros. The drinks took already ages to arrive, then arrived the pizza and after not less than 20 minutes, arrived the pork gyros..basically when I almost finished to eat the pizza. We were supposed to have a romantic dinner but we ended up eating at different time because the pizza was getting cold and there was no sign of the gyros. People around were suffering the same issue as we saw and hear most of the customers there complaing about the extremely slow service and the fact that they had to ask multiple time for the same thing. Also, we saw a waiter wondering around with a drink that he didn't know who ordered, going through all the tables looking at people waiting for someone to say "that's my drink". Although I visit Paros every single year for 20 years now, I haven't visited Cavo Doro for 10 years because back then I had a very bad experience (we were a company of 4 and we all decided to walk away, before we even ordered anything).

But recently I tried it again and I definitely regretted it. I asked for tap water, but they didn't serve us any, although it's perfectly DRINKABLE and as matter of fact highly recommended by the municipality, to avoid plastic waste. Instead, I had to pay 2.5 euros for 1L of plastic waste! That alone would be enough for me for this 1 star review, but it gets worse.

The service was very slow. We waited 15mins just to get the menu and a total of 1 hour+ to get our food. The restaurant wasn't even 30% full. Our cocktails were so bad and warm that we decided to return them right away. We asked for a beer instead, for which we had to ask another 2 times! In the end, they even included the returned cocktails in the bill (although they were removed after we complained). For this bill alone we had to ask a total of 3 times, again. Lastly, we weren't excited at all with the food itself.

If it wasn't for the water, this would still be a 2-star experience, but honestly, it seemed like this restaurant wanted to receive a bad...

Beach seating was nice atmosphere but sand had a lot of waste in it. Service was extremely poor with several waiters walking right past me and ignoring me as I tried to get their attention by raising my hand and meeting their eyes. We sat for 10 min before being offered a single menu between the two of us despite large stacks of them nearby and the waiter left so fast we didn't even get to order a drink nor was it offered. the waiter finally did come back after we sat with the menu for another 10min. When I commented on the wait I was told it was very busy which was odd seeing as how only 10 percent of tables were occupied. Maybe there was something else going on I didn't see though.

Ordered the fisherman platter for 2 and two appetizers.. stuffed mushrooms and the fried feta with honey and sesame seed coating. Sesame feta was okay but we had better at the airport. The mushrooms were absolutely delicious and my Alfa beer came out nice and cold!! The fisherman platter for 2 had squid fried anchovies and shrimp. It was tasteless and the fish dry.
