A lovely location but take your own food and drinks! As a table of 6 we were delighted to get seated outside in the nice surroundings at the lunchtime peak. Perhaps that was an indication. Once seated we couldn’t attract the waiters attention so went to the bar to order food and drinks. Not a problem, he’s clearly busy. A simple order of wine, Prosecco, lemon Fanta and some water. The food order was as simple (we thought) bruschetta, a Greek salad, meat platter, gyros and a cheese & ham toastie. What could go wrong…. After 15 minutes an ORANGE Fanta came out and was thrust onto our table. That’s wrong we commented between ourselves, but no matter we thought, we’ll change it for the lemon one we ordered when the rest of the order comes out; but it didn’t! Forced to go and move matters along I went back to the bar to ask for the rest of the drinks. A positive response came from the barman but it took a further 15 minutes before the tepid bottle of water, warm white wine and non- fizzy Prosecco were served. The drinks were warmer than the waiters attitude by now….

Food then?? That arrived an hour after ordering, well the first plate did anyway - a soggy bruschetta. Breaking with tradition they hadn’t bothered to toast the bread, or maybe that just wasn’t possible in the hour it had taken to prepare. The other dishes?? Another 30 minutes wait - at least the bruschetta bread was drying out now though! Two cold and greasy gyros were served with stale pitta bread, garnished with chunks of animal fat. Lovely! The cheese & ham toastie?? I had to collect that from the kitchen as it had been forgotten. This isn’t a good experience I thought, I’ll tell the waiter how cross I am whilst I’m collecting. “Excuse me but this service and food is rubbish” I said. Wow - situation went nuclear! “I can scream louder than you” replied the now animated waiter. “But I’m not shouting - you are” I replied, only to be chased out of bar and down the restaurant steps clutching my wife’s cheese & ham toastie as I fled… Back at the table I presented my patient wife with her meal. “What’s this?? It’s not toasted!” She was right. Nor was it ham & cheese! It was cheap luncheon meat served on supermarket white bread straight from the bag! Entertaining as an experience it was; worthy of nearly 2 hours of our day...

Dikke NO GO! Slechtste ervaring ooit! Medium of zoet?" Do you not want my money? I want to pay. Why don't you want my money?"

I never normally write reviews, but here I feel it's necessary to warn you. Our experience at Alley House was terrible and disappointing. We ordered three soft drinks, all of which were warm and lacked any carbonation. The coffee was undrinkable, which led not only us to abandon it, but other customers who had ordered coffee also left the café without finishing it. On top of that, the prices on the bill didn't match the menu, and it always ended up being more expensive than it was (it was already very expensive). We pointed this out to the waiter, but he didn't lower the actual price and started charging us for things we didn't order. For example, we ordered bruschetta, which was listed on the menu for €7.50 but ended up costing €8.50. The coffee went up from €4.50 to €5.50. Avoid this café and go somewhere else to avoid...

super cute place, we found this place randomly after visiting Ugo Foscolo's house and ended up going back a couple more times because it's truly a lovely place. Super cute decor, chill relaxing atmosphere, nice music but played softly so that it's not overwhelming and you can still chat easily, great coffee and super kind staff. The bartender even recommended us a few places to visit on the island. Definitely recommend it 😊

Don’t come here! We paid 4 euro for the espresso, 6 euro for the capuccino. On the menu which you can get on the table, it says 3 euro for espresso, 4.5 euro for the cappuccino. The menu on the wall says espresso 2 euro, 3 euro for the cappuccino. Waiter is rude, he said I ordered double espresso which I didn’t.
