I went to the restaurant "Arodou" and the food was nice, but let's not pretend, the most interesting part was the payment. The waiter brought the POS machine. It was a rectangular device, heavy in my hand, with a small screen that showed the amount. First, I checked if the amount was correct. I had ordered steaks, tzatziki , salad, soda and a bottle of wine, so 45.60 euros seemed reasonable. Okay, correct. Then, came the difficult part. You have to insert the card. You can't just toss it in. I had to see which side goes in. I looked at the small chip. It was gold and shiny. I put it in with the chip facing up, as it should be. I felt a small resistance and then a "click." It was in. The card had been inserted! On the screen, various things started to appear. It said, "Please enter your PIN." Ok, I knew that. The four numbers. I pressed the first one. A star appeared. Then the second, another star. And the third, and the fourth. I felt a little bit of anxiety. Did I press it wrong? No, all the stars were there, in a row. Then I pressed the green button, the one that says "OK." For a few seconds, the machine was silent. I held my breath. Will the payment go through? Maybe the card doesn't have money? Maybe the network is down? Then, the machine started to make a small sound, like it was saying hello. The screen said "APPROVAL." Two receipts came out of the machine. One for the store and one for me. I pulled mine out carefully. I put it in my pocket to check it later. Yes, the payment had been made. The ordeal was over. Overall, it was a very satisfying experience. The food was nice, but the payment process was what truly kept me on edge. I liked that everything...
Read moreOveral Ok. The seafood is most definitely fresh but unfortunately I found a shrimp with the intestine still inside but that too is fine, with fresh seafood, it happens. However, the service needs to be worked on. As soon as we arrived I told the very sweet waitress that I had made a reservation, however, there seemed to be some confusion as to where to seat us, even though the restaurant was empty. Once we got to the table, no on came to us until we called on a waitress, not even to ask for water. But what drove the nail through the wall was this specific waiter who was extremely rude. We ordered the garlic shrimp however for some reason we could only taste lemon. The shrimp was fresh but the shell was still on. Usually, decent restaurant bring a plate to throw the shell. Here they didn't. I asked this waiter to replace the plates, he replaces only mine. My boyfriend asked to replace his, he says to him "IS THAT ALL BECAUSE IM NOT COMING BACK HERE NOW". I'm sorry if you believe that asking for a change of plates is such a big offence bit please educate some of your staff on how to behave with customers. This rude waiter compelled me to write a review, otherwise I would have just gone back home and slept. P.S. (after comment of owner) After listing ALL the issues, they wish to take personally only the comment about the waiter calling it a joke! And NO, neither me nor my boyfriend laughed! Infact I had to stop him from saying something to this guy. So thanks for proving my point. Best of luck...
Read morewe chose this restaurant as we were after a good, family run taverna off the beaten track. unfortunately our experience did not match with the positive reviews. the greek garlic bread was incredibly soggy (worst bread we've had so far sailing around Greece!). the grilled calamari tasted of ammonia. the boiled greens tasted of nothing. the grilled sardines were ok, nothing to write home about. the girl that served us was super friendly, while the owner was too busy chatting with friends to care about customers. to top it all, we were eaten alive by mosquitos. a real pity, this has been the first and so far only bad meal we've had around the...
