Sorrento — Restaurant in St Peter Port

As a regular visitor to Guernsey, myself and my partner visited this restaurant off the back of the glowing reviews and was bitterly disappointed. Whilst the decor was stylish and bright, the evening menu had limited Italian options that looked like they had been added as an after thought. With only four pasta options, one dish with meat and that was local sausage. The starters were fine, the crab salad was tasty and the cod taco was average. The mains were very disappointing, the catch of the day was overseasoned and overcooked and sat on a pile of sad looking veg with broccoli and cabbage that had been cooked so much it had lost its colour and resembled my school dinner. It had the most awful aftertaste, salty and bitter. The scallops whilst big were decidedly average and certainly not the hearty Italian meal we were craving. The waiter must have realised as we were not checked on during our meal and the plates were pulled away briskly without a backward glance or comment. In Guernsey on business and decided to have dinner at Sorrento on our first night. I phoned to book and asked about vegan options... While there were none listed on the menu, Sergio, who answered the phone, remembered my request and talked me through what I could have when I arrived. He gave me an option for every course which I was very happy with. Overall we had a great night, the staff made us feel comfortable and we felt the prices were reasonable. We are on holiday in Guernsey at the moment. We went to Sorrento for a dinner. The food was scrumptious (typical Italian dish aubergine parmigiana, spaghetti with octopus, succulent grilled sirloin steak and pistachio tarte etc...the list goes on and on).The staff were really attentive, friendly too.
