Awake Coffee and Brunch — Restaurant in Budapest

Not trying to be redundant but this a good place for breakfast, brunch, or an afternoon coffee with cake.

What really caught my attention was the presence of traditional Hungarian dessert in the menu. Unfortunately, it’s been increasingly harder to find Hungarian dessert in the menus since they are adjusting their options to tourists’ tastes (mostly Italians and Americans).

They have 2 traditional Hungarian desserts! The number one is the Nagyi palacsintája… don’t worry about pronunciation… they labeled it with a simple name for us… “Grandma’s Layered Pancakes,” which is a broad translation of the original name. It is a delicious sweet based on cottage cheese, vanilla, and pancakes—a lighter type of pancake that doesn’t resemble much of the American pancake we all know.

The service is simply incredible, I have not seen such hospitality in Budapest for a long time. Thanks to the waiters🤍However, we came to breakfast at rush hour and waited a very long time for our order, it seems to me that it was about an hour. We were offered small cookies as an apology. But still, when you haven't eaten anything in the morning, such a long wait is unacceptable. The coffee was delicious, I wish it was hotter. The dish is not bad, but it was cold, I don't like cold food. The eggs were overcooked, they did not spread and because of this, dryness was felt. One of the bests brunch places in Budapest. I met with my sister and found this adorable place. Owners are super friendly, the place is spacious you dont have to sit in the other person’s mouth and the food is Excellent. I had mac&cheese along with pumpkin spice latte .. i was full ..nice portions. I loved this place as much as then the next day I brought my husband as well. This time we tried ‘Másnaposok reggelije = Hangovers breakfast’ and as we were a little hangover omg it worked perfectly well. Again full.. and absolutely amazing.
