We've been twice to this restaurant, which says a lot as we are picky. The first time was over a year ago. We were so impressed by the food we knew we were going to be back.
Both times we've been, I've had the mixed grilled platter. The first time around, the presentation of the platter was stunning, and all the meats were cooked to absolute perfection, with the chicken being as juicy and succulent as the grilled tomatoes.
Unfortunately, this time around, the same grilled platter appeared smaller and crammed, and I questioned if the quantities of meats and vegetables were similar to the platter I originally had. The smaller platter made it difficult to eat properly, but the worst part was that all meats, except the pork, were overcooked and as such dry. The one tomatoe (I'm sure I had two last time) was undercooked in comparison.
Also, we wanted to order one more grilled platter, but without pork, but were told they wouldn't do this. At close to 10000 Forint, ine would have thought a slight adjustment to the meats wouldn't be such a big deal, but, apparently it was. Oh, and talking about price, obviously the price of the food has gone up since we last ate here.
Another thing we noticed was that the classic dumplings were not as tasty and lacking the quantity of coriander, something we particularly made a mental note of the first time we visited, as my wife and I are both very fond of coriander.
I hope this restaurant doesn't cut too many corners in an effort to try to stay cost-effective and in turn end up being just another restaurant among the sea of other just average places one could eat at for less but that this was just a random average experience and that it won't be repeated.
A note about the service: the staff are not Hungarian, but don't worry, there are two staff, in particular, that just as well could be Hungarian as they have that same bad attitude that Hungarians are known for, an attitude that has no place in the hospitality industry.
A note about the atmosphere: having screens with content on them, even though Georgian, does cheapen the atmosphere of an otherwise OK presentation. It's not meant to be a fast food restaurant or a pub, but a nice dining experience away from all of this noise, and I wish this would be...
Read moreThe restaurant looked quite lovely and after takling to a couple of people outside we decided to give it a go...inside it all looked great as we where show to our table, the restaurant wasn't busy and I was looking forward to a good feed. My daughter ordered the chicken soup, my wife the salmon with spinach and me the beef with mushrooms, 2 glasses of house wine (1red,1white) and a coke all good so far... 2 glasses of red and a coke turned up with bread and Ajika and off whent the waiter. A few minutes passed before we managed to get the waiters attention again (and we did try quite hard) and in the end I ordered another glass of white wine as there seemed to be a confusion over the wine order (on the waiters side i may add). Not a problem the house red was good so I decided to drink both... The chicken soup turned up next which was pretty good and I told my daughter not to wait and enjoy her food while still hot which she did. After a while my wife and my food turned up it looked great. Unfortunately both the spinach and the mushrooms where so salty they where inedible. I ate the beef, nicely cook but also salty and my wife ate most of the salmon obviously not realy enjoying it... No point saying anything to the waiters as getting there attention was nigh on impossible after the food arrived so we finaly paid the bill and left very disappointe. I'm sure Georgen food is amazing and I will try it again, just not here. There's better restaurants in the...
Read moreI visited this restaurant after a friend highly recommended it, praising the food quality. However, my experience didn't quite live up to expectations. We went there for dinner and ordered the trout filet with pomegranate sauce and the khachapuri with cheese and egg.
The trout arrived first, but unfortunately, it seemed as though it had been prepared the day before and quickly reheated. It was almost cold when served and its breading not crunchy at all. After asking the server about the temperature, they reheated the remaining pieces in the microwave. However, we still didn’t get the freshly pan-fried fish we anticipated. Additionally, the pomegranate sauce had an odd texture, almost like it was overloaded with gelatin or starch, giving it a wobbly consistency.
The other dish, the bread with cheese and egg, arrived quite late, long after other tables who had ordered the same meal after us. When it finally came, it wasn’t bad, but the cheese was overwhelmingly salty. We attempted to add some pepper, but unfortunately, the pepper shaker was empty. To make matters worse, we found a piece of eggshell in our food.
Throughout the meal, no one checked in to ask if we were satisfied with our food, which meant there was no opportunity to offer feedback at the time. This review serves as our chance to share our thoughts.
The wine was decent, but overall, the experience didn't warrant more than two stars. For the proud price, we definitely...
