Don't bother unless you like having your time wasted.
We arrived at 11:30am and ordered breakfast in the hopes of catching a train at 12:35pm from Deli. Our food had still not arrived by 12:10 so we asked the wait staff what the hold up was and were informed that the food should be ready soon. One hour later, having missed the train already, some of our food arrived, at which point we asked to cancel the remainder of the order to avoid missing the next train at 1:35pm as well. To add insult to injury, we were charged for the part of the order that did not arrive and the service charge was also not refunded in full despite us requesting that it be removed, which we only realized later as we were in a rush to make the train and could not check.
It is frankly unbelievable to me that service standards this poor can exist for such an apparently successful restaurant. The primary issue was that there seemed to be only one chef in the entire kitchen, but even still a wait of 100+ min for avocado toast beggars belief. The wait staff seemed to have little clue what was happening and we were not informed at all in advance to expect a long wait, let alone turned away as we should have been if the kitchen was so overwhelmed. Management were invisible, despite the whole situation.
As for the food itself? It was decent, I suppose, but the experience left such a bad taste in the mouth that we could hardly enjoy it.
Given how much choice there is in Budapest, I would avoid...
Read moreDear Babutzi, the reason for what I gave 1 star rating for both of your restaurants is that I attended Babutzi shortly after its opening, where we consumed the daily menu. As we learnt from the waiter in Babutzi, the menu is prepared by Marishka restaurant daily and then transported to Babutzi, where it is kept warm and then served to the clients. The menu that day was Hungarian chicken goulash (csirkepaprikás). The plate itself was really nice as from the esthetical point of view BUT as it was originally a pasta plate (i.e very deep) it was practically unusable for eating a chicken leg from it. The chicken leg served was so small that we almost needed a magnifying glass to recognize it at the very deepest point of the pasta plate. Apart from the size, the meal was unfortunately quite cold and also too tough (not well prepared originally). And all this for 10.000 HUF for two people and we...
Read moreWe had few days in Budapest and one day had a breakfast in Babutzi, following the reviews in Google. The food was good, tasty, and we decided to come back next day before the airport. Knowing that it’s Sunday and maybe it could be full, we tried to reach by phone and there was no answer. We came on purpose, it was crowded but still there were free tables , moreover at that time many people were leaving, but still we couldn’t sit as stuff every time said that everything is full. In spite that we indicated that we will stay only 30 mins as we didn’t have more time. Than we waited a little and again people left and there were a lot of free tables. So it’s obvious that waiters just were enough busy and didn’t want accept new people. So it’s a good place, with tasty breakfast but people who work there just ruined all impression and stuff is not...
