The unique décor truly makes it an experience worth trying. The wagon has all the necessary facilities, including air conditioning. Unfortunately, it’s not very well ventilated, and there’s a noticeable smell of food. The food was average in terms of taste. I tried the duck with mashed potatoes – it was very good – 8.8/10 ✅ The Bolognese pasta – weak, seems to be made with store-bought sauce, like the kind from a jar – 5/10 ❌ The “Vagon Chicken” – it was quite decent, I’d rate it 7.5/10 ☑️ For dessert, I tried the Hungarian poppy seed specialty – 6/10, but that’s more of a personal taste matter. Basically, it seems to be a moist sponge cake with poppy seeds, served in a vanilla sauce ❌ The Portuguese wine was served at too warm a temperature for my liking ❌ The Hugo cocktail was fairly okay – 8.5/10 ☑️ The waiting time was quite long – probably due to the typical dinner hour.

The place is very comfy, cozy and clean. The server was friendly, polite and speaking very good English. The only negative feedback that I will leave is the waiting time for the food, around 40min we have to wait for goulash soup, chicken paprikash and beef stew.., which is ridiculous for a restaurant. Also the quality of food is good, tasty but not excellent. Overall expirience was good for a lunch break. I will give one more chance to this place to prove that the food quality and the speed are improved, next time when I visit Buda.

We (and everyone else) sat outside on the terrace as it was too hot to sit inside the train, this was no problem for us as we came for the food. They have some vegetarian options on the menu. We shared two starters, the fried camembert and eggplant cream with flatbread which was super good. I tried the four cheese gnocchi, the sauce was a bit bland and runny for my liking but it was okay! The staff is super friendly, for two starters, two mains and 2 big beers we spent around 40 euro, would recommend!

We made a reservation for Saturday dinner, when we turned up, the staff said 'yes we have your booking but all tables are full and you need to to wait 30 mins.' W'd made this booking days before.

The curly blonde haired waiter with glasses and tattoos was particularly obnoxious, obviously annoyed and rolling his eyes. He actually said 'we aren't responsible for bookings'. Only after we got angry did they say they'll clear a table for us in 10 mins (actually took 20 minutes).

The food was average, the service more conderned with regular Hungarian guests, but the old train car vibe is admittedly amazing. And after all that, they had the nerve to ask for a tip on top of the 10% service...

Tasty and fresh food served and the place has a very nice atmosphere.

However the service is extremelly slow. We have spent nearly 2 and a half hours for a 2 course meal.. we also had to wait another 20 minutes for the bill. Visit only if you are time millionaire..

When I requested to remove the service charge I got rejected by one of the waitresses: "sorry but half of the service charge belongs to the owners so I can't remove it."

Waste of time really and extremelly expensive compared to quality of service.

Definatelly not recommended. (This place was amazing years ago, not...
