Matt Bar — Restaurant in Budapest

The place does not deserve one star! The service is terrible. The bar was pretty much empty with a staff of 5 young people behind the bar who were terribly rude and not helpful at all. They were talking all the time with absolutely no attention to the customers. We went with a group and wanted to collectively buy fries or something to throw out with our drinks. There was only toast bread,we asked at the beginning if since they were out of everything was it possible to ask for the toast bread sliced as we would be sharing. The answer was Sure!!! When I went to pick up the toast, of course all the waiters were chatting, so I went over and said hello to them and then asked them nicely for the toast. One blonde rude girl didn't even say HELLO, in fact she pretty much didn't even look at me she just slammed the plate down on the counter and then turned back to talk! When I kindly indicated that I asked for it sliced, she rolled her eyes and slammed a huge knife in front of me and said, "Go ahead, cut it yourself" and turned back to talk. We're talking about a bigger knife, which I was free to take. Dear Management. I think you might want to look at who's working there with guests and whether they're qualified for the position. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this place deserves it. From start to finish, it was one of the worst experiences I've had at a bar. First of all, the staff was incredibly rude and unprofessional. Not only were they dismissive, but they actually laughed and made sarcastic remarks when we asked simple questions. It felt like we were being mocked just for being there.

The sign outside clearly states the bar closes at 2:00 AM, but by 12:30 AM they were already cleaning up, stacking chairs, and practically pushing customers out the door. We were told to leave while still finishing our drinks — no warning, no apology, nothing. It’s incredibly disrespectful to advertise one thing and do another.

To make matters worse, they refused to let us use the restroom before leaving. When we politely asked, the response was a flat-out “No,” followed by more eye-rolling and snide comments. I’ve never been treated so poorly in a place that’s supposed to offer hospitality.

The atmosphere is unwelcoming, the service is appalling, and the general attitude of the staff makes you feel like you’re an inconvenience just for walking in. — nor recommend to anyone.

This bar serves cheap drinks which is the main draw in.

The toilets are really worn, though there's soap. On the floor there's more toilet paper than other messes. The locks and doors actually work. It's not easy to use the toilets but it's managable.

The service: I have been here at peak hours and I didn't experience a too long wait time. Yes I had to be in line but that was maximum for 10 minutes, not 30 minutes.

The cocktails taste good but sometimes they are stronger other times they are weaker, depending on the bartender.

The tables outside are often covered in something sticky or cigarette ash but that didn't bother me bc that is caused by the rush hour not bc the staff is lazy. Actually there was one server who constantly went around picking up glasses and wiping down tables.

All in all, I like this place and I will come back bc I liked the vibes, the people around you give the place a fun vibe and the drinks are cheap. One cocktail on average is around 1500 HUF and the most expensive ones are...
