Originality is what attracted me here at first, as I never ate savoury Kurtöskalacz before. I had the one with duck and red cabbage and it was really amazing. Great experience. The staff was also very friendly and helpful, which was compensating for the slightly unclear display of the menu (lacking the sides for example or not really explaining the sizes properly). I also had a sweet Kurtöskalacz there, and even if it wasn't the best I ever had it was still very good. The issue with Kurtöskalacz is always that if you prepare them in advance they get dry very fast. This place definitely prepares them in advance but then coats them with a kind if syrup, preserving a bit of it's moisture, so partially compensating for the natural drying of the Kalacz with time. All in all, still a great experience.

One of the best food we have had in Budapest! We had Matrai style pork in chimney "cake". Had no idea what to expect savory chimney cakes to taste like, turns out it's very much like thin bagel. The pork was deep fried with a delicious crispy crust, moist and perfectly cooked on the inside, it was finished with what I'm guessing is garlic mayo/yogurt sauce, with stringy cheese on top. It was absolutely heavenly. They also have these hungarian cordial drinks, we had lemon mint mixed with a bit of ginger, as the staff kindly recommended. It was very refreshing. Just order the hungarian flagged items on the menu and you can't go wrong 👍 Will defo visit if we are in Budapest again!

Absolutely delicious! We got an explanation of all different types of what's on the menu including photos of each dish which made it even more difficult to choose between all the delicious options. The owners were so super nice and we felt very welcomed. The idea is really awesome, and the savoury dishes are on point! We got the burger from the regular menu and the veggie sandwich from the weekly special menu, accopanied with hungarian coke and soda with homemade cherry syrup, everything was perfect!! Thank you again, will definitiv recommend this place to everyone I know when they come to Budapest! :))

I have been in Budapest a month and consider myself a bit of a pastry aficionado. This place had, hands down, the best chimney cakes I have ever had. It's a labor of love for the owner, who makes everything--creams, sauces, and mayo-- from scratch. The menu is limited, which allows each cake to sing. One thing I love is how they don't put soft-serve in the sweet cakes; instead they fill thrm with a cold sweet cream similar to the inside of a cannoli. Chef's kiss. They are not as big as other chimney cakes, but that can be expected for something of gourmet quality. One cake makes for a solid lunch.

Also, the owner was super sweet. I mixed up my change the first time and underpaid him 1000 HUF and he told me not to worry about it. (I then paid it to him, of course.) Excellent English and a cheerful attitude.

As for the cakes, I had a ratatouille savory one and a candied fruits sweet one. Both made me moan. People-on-the-street-looking-at-me moan. The menu changes weekly, but I'd just go with what the owner recommends. The man is an artist. I took my boyfriend back and we tried the savory vegetarian burger, the savory Juicy Lucy, and the sweet white chocolate. All totally bonza. I even ordered two cakes to take-away on a train journey. (I only found this place on my second-last day in Budapest.)

After a month in Budapest this place and a pizza joint tie for my favorite food experiences. Do yourself a favor and go as soon as you get to Budapest; you'll want to return over and over. Seating available on the street and a terrace, in a nice pedestrian area great for people-watching. Stop...

Definitely my favorite burger place in town. Not quite your traditional burger joint, serving chimney cake burgers and all, but that just makes them all the more special. The owner is super friendly and helpful, not to mention one of the most correct business owners i have ever dealt with. There is no way you are going to have a problem with them, but if you somehow still do, they go out of their way to try and fix it. Their "Dávid Burger" aka "Juicy Lucy" is to die for. (Quite literally, given its 2x150g meat patty, but trust me.. its more than worth it) The white chocolate chimney cake is a perfect crowning of any meal with those having more of a sweet tooth. Besides the above two permanent items on their menu, they also have items on the menu that change every week so they have plenty of variety as well in...
