Review: Claro Bistró Budapest (rustic pub with charm)
The Claro Bistró in Budapest is a real discovery - a rustic pub with lots of charm, where you feel welcome from the very first moment. The interior is down-to-earth, warm and designed with great attention to detail: Wooden beams, cosy tables, harmonious lighting and just the right amount of rustic flair that exudes authenticity without being kitschy.
The food is a real hit: hearty, freshly prepared and tasty to the point. The cooking here is honest - no gimmicks, just really good food that fills you up and makes you happy. Whether hearty Hungarian classics or modern interpretations: everything on the table impresses with its quality and flavour.
The staff deserve a special mention: attentive, friendly and pleasantly present. You immediately realise that people here put their heart and soul into their work - unaffected, warm and absolutely service-oriented. Questions about the menu are answered competently, special requests are gladly fulfilled, and all with a smile.
Conclusion: Claro Bistró is not a trendy location, but a really good, honest pub with excellent food and a team that truly lives and breathes hospitality. If you want authentic and delicious food in Budapest, this is the place for you. An absolute...
Read moreThis incident happpened 2 days ago. As a member of a company of about 10 people, we were having much fun drinking beer and some shots too. Having spent roughly an hour there, I thought I'd ask for a small glass of beer and soda water with lemon and lime. To my surprise, the waiter started telling me that the lime was so expensive he was not going to put any into my ordinary soda water. He was so arrogant that finally I just ordered a simple soda with lemon. Some minutes later he served me a fancy-looking glass of soda water with at least two full limes sliced with a broad smile saying "Hey man, this is on the house, enjoy!". What's the glitch? I'll tell you. As I was waiting for my drink I accidentally spotted the waiter's bartender colleague filling a glass with soda water and at halfway he added a rather unexpected ingredient - his SALIVA! YES, he SPITTED into the drink. As I didn't want to spoil the jolly atmosphere of my friends I just simply didn't touch the drink as the waiter and the bartender were curiously checking whether I had already had a sip or not. The question this experience raises is what might they do to those guests' food or drink who really piss them off. The thing this situation makes me not do in the future - either go there or...
Read moreThis review might not represent how the restaurant usually is, but I have to speak about my experience in the one and last time I've been there. We were a group of 12 people and had a table booked in advance for dinner. The waiter was completely rude all the time. He wouldn't wait for people to finish their order and would leave the table. He wouldn't ask the usual "anything else?" and would leave us speaking by ourselves trying to order more than 1 thing. Then, he brought 3 extra Greek salads we didn't ask for, forgot 1 Cucumber salad, brought one main dish wrong, etc. Instead of recognising, he would argue with us about these mistakes. In the end we were overcharged for these, and still charged for service, which we refused to pay. Once we complained, at least the bill was corrected before payment. About the food, what I've seen was nothing special. Burger was pretty big...
