Restaurant very well located, 150m from the Budapest Parliament. At this time of summer (June) there are tables inside and outside.. if you prefer to enjoy the heat and have a cold beer outside, that's ok, pleasant... but inside the air-conditioned environment is also very good. At the door, we were greeted by an attendant, not so friendly...everyone speaks English. Afterwards, we were greeted by the manager who took us to the table, and to compensate for the not so friendly guy, a very friendly and attentive girl came to serve us. The Menu has a variety of sandwiches, meats, pizzas, nachos, tortillas, quesadillas, desserts...the order didn't take long to arrive. We ordered a traditional "pizza pie" and a portion of nachos, very tasty, but with a dough similar to fried pastry. The pizza pie, small, which weighs about 1.4 kg..serves easily for 3 people. Who likes cheese is well served! My wife and I couldn't eat all of it, but the attendant promptly put it in a package for us to take away...The portion of nacho serves 2 people. The drinks are varied and there are also beers. The restaurant is nice, the lighting is good, the music is international, the place is clean and organized. The menu has both in Hungarian and in English. The values are all in Hungarian currency (florin), and Euro... when you paying the bill, it appears in Euro and florin. For the total set, the value of the dishes is good...if you want to eat something more affordable, you can find it, if you walk a little and search...but the place is worth the price we paid about (36€ for the couple) food and drinks. ...
Read moreI'm basically just going to review the deep-dish pizza. We ordered a large meat feast. Now for the record, I have eaten pizza at Pequod's Chicago so I do have a reference point!
I thought there probably could have been a little more meat but it was just about acceptable on that score. Crust was interesting, reminded me of water biscuits and that makes sense when we're dealing with that much cheese. Crust is thin at the bottom like Chicago Deep Pan should be.
There is a lot of cheese mix, it's stretchy and fun - doesn't taste of much though and this becomes a problem when there's so little else going on.
Sauce: What tomato sauce you get is good, but there's not enough of it. Now obviously you can argue that the right amount of sauce is subjective - but there should be a way to get more.
Now a couple of the options (the veggie one and the expensive steak one) come with parmesan and tbh....this pizza was missing parmesan. This would be less of a problem if the muss mix had some sharpness but it doesn't and as such the whole thing is interesting texturally but pretty one note taste wise. I recently had a Chicago slice at the S Barro at Istanbul SAW Airport which, frankly, beat it hands down - they used dried parmesan!
However, we took some leftovers home and I covered a slice in parmesan reggiano the next day and it was vastly improved. Point being, that they could radically improve the experience by offering extra sauce and parmesan as additions. Until then, it's not terrible by any means but I don't think I could wholeheartedly...
Read moreWhat can I say.. this one has been on my bucket list for a while and it was so worth it.
We ordered a Nacho plate with Brisket, classic deep dish pizza and homemade bacon, maple syrup and salty caramel ice cream. Each of those was absolutely delicious. We shared all three dishes with three and we still managed to bring some deep dish pizza home.
Nacho plate. The best was probably the homage nachos, yes, no store bought nacho chips, homemade nacho chips. Four different sauces and some amazing brisket. 10/10
Classic deep dish pizza (2-3 people). It looks small, but oh it is enough for probably 4 or 5. This is mainly due to the huge amount of cheese. For our liking, it was a tad bit too much, but obviously that’s just how the deep dish pizza works. 9/10
Homemade ice cream. They have three very interesting ice cream flavors. The bacon, maple syrup, and salty caramel sounded the most odd and intriguing. It was really good, different, but good. 9/10
Drinks. Classic lemonade and green apple lemonade + beer. Both lemonades were amazing. Beer.. well it’s beer.
All in all, the restaurant is quite big and has a nice seating are outside. It is very clean. The waiters speak mostly English and are very friendly. Prices are a tad bit higher, but worth it.
I’ll definitely be...
