Wasabi runs its own home delivery service, which makes it even more important that their delivery staff receive basic training in communication and de-escalation.
Although we had the correct address provided, the delivery person struggled to complete the delivery. First, he had trouble matching the apartment number to the intercom dial code. Fair enough – it's not always intuitive – so I guided him over the phone. I clearly explained that the main gate and the staircase door open at the same time (they are 10 steps apart and it stays open fairly long), which usually works without issue for other couriers (and we’ve had dozens of deliveries here).
Still, he called again from the staircase saying he couldn’t get in. I reminded him that ringing from there doesn't work, and he needs to step back and call from the main gate. By this point, he was noticeably agitated.
Then I got another call. I buzzed him in, but nothing happened. He called again, irritated, saying he couldn’t get in and that I should come downstairs. When I did, he handed over the food without a single word of apology or thanks – just more frustration, putting the blame on me for the delay.
When I challenged his tone, he acted as if I were in the wrong, completely ignoring the fact that I’m the customer and had done everything correctly.
Honestly, this was one of the worst delivery experiences I’ve had in a long time. I contacted their HQ to report it, but even there, I felt like I had to prove every detail – quoting what the delivery guy said – just to be taken seriously.
If Wasabi wants to offer its own delivery, some investment in training and customer service standards is...
Read moreWasabi is one of the original all you can eat running sushi chains of Budapest and it used to be among my favourite restaurants while I lived there (early 2010s). The food quality was great back in the day and the interior was super cool even then. While I appreciate progress, I don't think the interior needs to change much, as it translates well to this decade too.
The staff and service in general is fantastic. Knowledgeable waiters and waitresses give you a brief Intro on everything you eat and drink, and are ready to answer your questions if any.
The food quality used to be always great, but during my last visit the order system was completely upgraded to support special requests placed via a tablet. As usual, these tablets are a bit slow and laggy and don't respond well to a large number of orders but since food keeps coming, it does the job anyway. However, the food quality itself declined somewhat compared to previous years. There are some fancy looking and sounding rolls that can trigger one's fantasy, but really they are just variations for something super simple. On the other hand, classic yet simple sushi pieces may only shop up rarely and as with running sushi anywhere, there is always a competition who gets it first of the conveyor belt. The staff is certainly ready to help tho if you feel like something is missing. Also, many cold and warm items like mini salads, fried noodles and rice etc. were mere "gap fillers" in my opinion, but that is purely a subjective opinion.
The drinks were good and overall, it was a nostalgic and pleasant experience. Food needs a bit of upgrade quality-wise, but I wasn't disappointed overall. Thank...
Read moreI have mixed opinions about this restaurant. I have been waiting literally for years to try it out but i always didn’t because of the price . The occasion finally came to go there. Maybe it was my fault because i went in with extremely high expectations and they were certainly not met . For that price honestly you would expect bigger portions, and i know it’s all you can eat so technically it’s a lot if food but it’s a pain to keep collecting the small pieces of sushi from the belt . The food selection was also a problem as it’s the same things going over and over . I LOVED the chicken nuggets they were fresh and lightly fried and crispy but this was supposed to be a sushi place . The waitress was extremely nice and i actually told her that the selection of sushi is not enough, there was literally four types going around on the belt . So the waitress was kind enough to bring a tablette from which i was able to choose some sushi that she said they will bring it for me . The downside though is that i waited for 30 minutes for the pieces of sushi i ordered and by then i was full from snacking on desert items and i ended up leaving without having the sushi . The REDEMPTION: I actually left this restaurant with a feeling much better than the disappointment i had at first because they ended up serving a type of fried sushi with cooked salmon inside and sweet soy sauce that was extremely good . I would give a 2 star rating but there was few good things so i think 3 stars is fair . In conclusion, i honestly don’t think there’s an all you can eat place in budapest which is worth the money...
