After a Monday to Friday stay at Lord Residence, booked through Travel Republic, I have to say that we were pleasantly surprised. I must admit, for the price we paid, despite having seen pictures on trip advisor I did wonder if it would be as pleasant as it was due to being such a bargain.
We stayed in a two bedroom apartment on the ground floor. The rooms were all clean, the decor matched the images online but they were a little tired in places, some drawers were screwed shut and there were some chips in the kitchen surfaces. Not bad all in all but about time for a refurbish I would say. Facilities in our apartment included 2 toilets (one separate, one in the bathroom), microwave, oven, toaster, hob and plates, pots pans etc, hairdryer, iron & ironing board, drying rack, washing machine, over bath shower & hair dryer. The only things missing were wine glasses! It's just not right drinking wine from a tumbler! The toaster that was initially in the kitchen was actually quite lethal I must say, with a shower of electrical sparks on first use, I'm thankful that I used it first and not the kids who frequently do make their own toast. I took it to reception, where they apologised and put another in later in the day.
We had two small terraced area's, one of the living space and one off the main bedroom. Be warned, these are really slippy when wet as I found out.
We stayed in Feb, cold and snowing outside and noted that in Lord Residence and every where else we visited they have the heating on really quite high (which I loved) if it's too warm though you can adjust the radiators. The bed in the main room was anything but comfortable though, very hard and incredibly noisy, just turning over in the night would give rise to all manner of creaks!
Parking on the street is tricky, you may struggle to get a space, we made use of Lord Residence's secure underground garage, with security guard, it was €15 per night at the time of our stay, quite pricey but worth it we felt. Not only the garage but the entire building felt very secure, with a security guard at the front desk and coded entry.
I wouldn't say this place was perfect but to be fair I would go back, it was clean, secure and the staff were friendly...
Read moreSo bad experience. I dont know if this miscomunication is since the change of the reception, that is not in the building. Starting with that, you need to walk to another building to pickup the key of your rented apartment, which is horrible because you come tired from the past days and they still make you walk. The miscommunication started when the WiFi DIDN’T WORK. And I suspected this was gonna happen since the receptionist in the other building told me that if the WiFi didn’t work correctly, there where gonna be other instructions inside the apartment, which were, but said: if the central internet is bad, please connect to the apartment router and it will have a password. The main question after looking at ALL the apartment was: Where is this router? We looked all the place for it, and never found it. As the apartment was rented through Expedia, I sent a message and made a complaint, which was ‘solved’ by them a day after saying that they weren’t able to reach the place, which was super easy to contact by the phone, and that they would cancel if I wanted without any refund but 25 USD, which obviously didn’t work for a night anywhere else in BUDAPEST! The problem is I reached Expedia because I tried to call the phone the place left me to contact them and no help was given. The person who attended the phone repeated 5 times that ‘he was only the recepcionist’, and that he would send yesterday a mechanic to solve the internet issue. Which obviously was a lie because nobody went to solve it. So I could work, I was incomunicated and it was not fare because I chose this place for its more than 4 stars in google, and now I see they...
Read moreFour stars might be a little high, but it wasn't a bad place, it just had some niggles. The flat served our needs - a space to cook, sleep and freshen up, and plenty of room. And it met them, but it didn't shine. A little more attention to some details. For instance, no rail to hold the shower head (screw holes in the tiles suggest there was one once), just about enough cutlery and crockery for the 2 staying, spares are always nice for more than one course, or a side dish. No oven trays, so couldn't use this as oven or grill. The room was over hot, in February. The radiators weren't on, and couldn't work out where the heat was coming from. One pillow each on the bed. Plug sockets on the opposite wall to the bed.
But a good location. Generally quiet, even with a weekend opening only nightclub towards the end of the road, no noise from late night revellers. Or from the residential neighbours that make up the rest of this block of flats. Food shops, bars, cafes and other services nearby. Bus stop with service towards city centre at end of road. Clean. Comfortable enough.
Check in required visiting another property. Not a great issue, but this did feel like it took us out of the way when carrying heavy bags from the airport shuttle bus. Although room was available a lot earlier than check-in, so was able to get settled and enjoy the...
