Quite atmospheric but very noisy venue: hard surfaces and vaulted ceiling cause a lot of echo, and when the place is full it is an almighty din. Staff are great; attentive and fast. A great collection of Belgian beers is the primary attraction (most are bottled). The menu indicates a desire to provide both conventional and inventive new dishes. Sadly, the execution is a mixed bag. One of our gang wanted his mussels without garlic - though a travesty, he was given what he wanted and he was very happy. Another friend's goulash soup was one of the best he has had. Unfortunately, my stuffed cabbage dish was dry as gunpowder and very salty with too much pepper to boot. The gingerbread-and-chestnut-mousse dessert was a great concept and visually very appealing, but there was little perceptible chestnut in the mousse. In all, a promising venue with some flaws. We randomly tried this restaurant in search of good traditional Hungarian food for lunch and were pleasantly surprised with what lay in store for us in the basement. It has a nice rustic feel to it and instantly made us cozy up to the warm, lightly-lit Belgian restaurant and bar. Everything we tried was delicious including the cheese platter, flounder fish with arugula salad, salmon fish dish and burger. The Belgian chocolate cake was airy and heavenly. Situated in an alley, right next to the hill the Buda Castle was built on, this charming place has a cozy and historic atmosphere. They sport a huge selection of the finest Belgian beers there is. Let it be a Trappist, abbey or a more commercial beer, I say it's impossible for anyone not to find a bottle to his or her liking. The food they serve is also superb, and of the highest quality. They take both cash and credit card, and the rest room is also decent.
