Very good location, trams and buses nearby. Astonishing view to river and Pest side. High quality rooms, everything is relatively new and good looking. Good selection of food for breakfast ( we had our launches and dinners in the city), everything was fresh and tasty. Recommend taking a photo of the in room bar, when checking in, for us they tried to charge 13 euro (WTF!?) for 250 ml water bottle which was missing, luckily for us we had a video of the room and the bar we shot upon arrival, otherwise we couldn't even prove that we didn't drink it. We usually don't touch these things, since they charge quadriple prices or even more than that. This hotel is not cheap, but it's location and overall quality is worth the cost, at least for us it did. Another unpleasant experience was that they told us at the reception, that the price of the taxi to the airport was 9000 huf, a fixed rate, but when we came to the airport, the driver asked for 9200 by the fare counter, and said that there's no such thing as fixed price in Budapest, dunno which one of them was right, the receptionist or the taxi driver, but for me it was not a pleasant experience, I don't mind another 200 hufs to the driver, i just don't like to be lied to... That just spoiled a bit our otherwise good impression of...
Read moreAs a loyal spg platinum member for several years, this hotel should not be a part of the spg portfolio. Their front desk service has been rude on check in AND during request for a late check out (which was denied. Request was for a 3 or 4 pm check out. The latest they were able to provide was a 1pm. Even if the hotel is completely booked, standard check in time is 3pm. It does not take 2 hour to turn over a room and not every guest will check in at 3pm. For them to not try to even check if they can accommodate a platinum member and to rudely dismiss the request, the experience left a sour note on my Budapest trip). The room was ok: relatively clean. SPg is known to have their very own American Express card. I get points for staying within their portfolio as well as using their card IN their chains. This hotel DOES NOT TAKE amex!!!! The reason is due to "technical difficulty".
I personally hate to stay out of a spg portfolio, but in this case... Take your...
Read moreThe photos for this hotel are overselling it a lot - I'd guess there's probably one room that looks as spacious and luxurious as the photos. It's quite a basic hotel, nothing exclusive.
Positives were: The location is great, really good restaurants and bars nearby, next to some of Budapest's biggest tourist spots and good for tram connections. We paid for a castle view room, which was good & possibly quieter at the back of the property with a small balcony. Bed was comfy and room was clean.
I expected the room to be a bit bigger, and in better condition, a lot of the furniture was scuffed and old looking (but probably isn't, just the bright colours make it really obvious).
A big annoyance was that they wouldn't accept card or euros for the city tax - it had to be forints (of which we didn't have many left and then wound up with a pile of useless coins).
A nice place to stay if all you'll do is...
