My mom and I bought 2 tickets for this ride, for up and down. When we wanted to go down however, we were all waiting and the thing wasn't moving, now no one told us anything until I finally asked someone and they told us its broken.

At this point we had waited 10 minutes, so we went in the line again to get the money back.

Then after half an hour waiting we heard an English person saying that he couldn't get money back BC he didn't have the receipt. And he got treated very unfriendly by the women who at that time was wearing a blue sweater and had blonde hair.

So we searched for our receipt, when it was our turn to get the money back however, we heard that we didn't have the "right" receipt because we paid by card and only showed the normal receipt.

At this we got pissed and asked her why she needed that one since we could show her the receipt as asked.

And she was frustrated as well, and we were also starting to get very frustrated. They all (every personal and ESPECIALLY THE MANAGER) treated everyone very unkind.

I understand they were doing their job, but they could have handled the situation better. We had been waiting an hour to hear we needed a receipt, and then getting told it is the wrong one.... Also no one said anything to the people in the line waiting to say what had happend, so some people were probably just waiting to buy a ticket to go down.

After some time I found the other receipt and we did get our money back, but the whole thing was so unfriendly and rude honestly have never seen a "Business" that was so rude to...

Some people are born ignorant and the staff of this cozy but slightly overpriced small train obviously are. We went with two kids to have a short ride as the kids were curios how the train works and where it brings the masses of people. So far so good, but the staff is so unbelievable inattentive, rude and cognitively incapable that even such a short fun ride becomes a Hungarian nightmare. That said, we had a stroller with us which requires more space (I.e., double seater for two kids). Instantly when buying the tickets, I highlighted that we have a stroller and require clear instructions and maybe even support to get it in pretty small train cabins. While the lady at the cashier confirmed we will receive the required support and pointed out that staff members are happy to help (by the way, there were indeed four employees but none of them eager to offer help or anything), there was absolutely nobody to guide or support us instead one to another second a lady screamed at us and seemed super upset without any clear language what the profund issue is and without indicating that she is an employee of the operating company. I found it a bit unacceptable (screaming plus intimidating people who use the connection) and simply infant behaving like this in the services sector. My Hungarian is not super advanced but the flawed terminology used by one of the staff member reflects her both unprofessional and not very service-oriented attitude. Truly a bad experience and hope the staff members will be treated with the same „welcome culture“ wherever...

A Fun and Scenic Way to Explore Budapest

The Funicular in Budapest is a fun and unique way to explore the city while enjoying breathtaking views. The ride up the hill is smooth and comfortable, and the panoramic views of Budapest from the top are simply stunning.

The Funicular is well-maintained, and the staff is friendly and helpful. The ambiance is peaceful, and the sound of the carriage climbing up the hill is quite relaxing. It's a great way to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy some peace and quiet.

What makes the Funicular special is the experience itself. It's not just a mode of transportation, but a unique attraction that offers visitors a memorable experience. The ride up the hill is short but sweet, and the views from the top are worth the trip.

However, I deducted one star from my rating because the Funicular can get crowded at times, especially during peak hours. This can lead to longer wait times and make it difficult to fully enjoy the ride. To improve this, I suggest offering timed tickets to ensure that visitors can plan their visit and avoid long wait times.

In conclusion, I highly recommend the Funicular in Budapest to anyone looking for a fun and scenic way to explore the city. It's a unique attraction that offers visitors a memorable experience, and the views from the top are simply breathtaking. I left the Funicular feeling inspired and...

The Budapest Castle Hill Funicular or Budavári Sikló is a funicular railway in the city of Budapest, in Hungary. It links the Adam Clark Square and the Széchenyi Chain Bridge at river level to Buda Castle above. The line was opened on March 2, 1870, and has been in municipal ownership since 1920. It was destroyed in the Second World War and reopened on June 4, 1986. A feature of the line are the two pedestrian foot bridges which cross above it. These were present when the line opened, were removed in 1900 when the castle's garden was extended, and rebuilt to the original design in 1983. The building of the line started in July 1868, the first test run was on 23 October 1869. The Sikló has operated for the public since 2 March 1870. This funicular rail was the second in Europe, only Lyon had a similar transportation system at that time. During the Second World War the cars and the terminals were destroyed by bombs. The remnants of the funicular were then dismantled. Replacement with escalators was considered later. Reconstruction of the funicular was decided in 1965, and several plans were made, but the construction works were delayed. A midibus service between the two termini was launched in 1975. This was in operation until the line was finally reopened in 1986.

I recently had the chance to experience the Budavari Siklo funicular in Budapest, and it was undeniably an interesting attraction for tourists like myself. The ride itself is a charming throwback to a bygone era, with its historic wooden carriages and scenic views of the city. The funicular provides a unique perspective of the Buda Castle Hill, and it's an excellent way to immerse yourself in the city's rich history. However, while it's a fun experience, I couldn't help but feel that it might not be the most efficient way to reach the top. Walking up the hill is an option, and it allows you to explore more at your own pace. Plus, it's a bit of exercise that can be rewarding in its own right. In conclusion, the Budavari Siklo funicular is a must-try for tourists seeking a unique experience and breathtaking views. However, if efficiency is your priority, consider taking the enjoyable walk up the hill for a more physically engaging journey.

Travelling by the Buda Hill Funicular is a pleasant and a fairly cheap way to save your legs a hike when you want to get up to the Buda Castle Hill from the river level on Adam Clarke square. Enjoy the ride on a historical cable car! Located at the Buda end of the Chain Bridge, the funny ride on the Funicular takes only a few minutes, and it does provide a unique and beautiful view of Budapest, the River Danube and sights at the top of Castle Hill, such as the Fisherman’s Bastion. From the top, you will even see the Margaret Island on the left, or the beautiful Art Nouveau style Gresham Palace on the Pest side of the river. Running every 10 minutes up and down the Castle Hill from early morning till late at night, do not be recoiled by the queues. Connecting the banks of River Danube and the Buda Castle, the Funicular (Budavari Siklo in Hungarian) has been in service since 1870.
