Myself and three other people arrived in Budapest on a Friday in the early afternoon. We decided to eat an early dinner around 6:30 pm and decided to try out a restaurant, that was recommended by our Airbnb host, right next to where we were staying. We were told that it was family owned, the service was amazing, and the food was delicious.
As soon as we walked through the door, we were met with very unpleasant service. The waiter acted as if we were an inconvenience to him and the restaurant. We sat down outside and began looking at the menu. The waiter comes by to take our order and my boyfriend orders an appetizer for the table. The waiter tried to take his menu away as if that was his entree, but he continued to order his meal. The waiter said that that was too much food for him to eat, and I quickly explained that we were sharing the appetizer.
Once our meal came, we were quickly disappointed. Two of us ordered pork stuffed with cheese, which were the better choices. I had ordered the honey glazed chicken with a salad, but the chicken tasted like it had gone bad. I did not finish it. The fourth person in our group ordered a steak with “fried onions.” The waiter brings out a steak with a “fried egg.” She explained that she wanted the onions, but the waiter made no effort to correct his mistake and made it known that it was her fault. She had also told us that the steak was very tough and not edible.
Overall, we were met with a terrible first impression of the food and service...
Read moreThe worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant in Budapest. I booked a table for 10 people including my closest family, which came to visit me for Easter weekend. When the waiter came to pick up the orders, I asked if it’s possible to have 3-4 bills instead of one. The waiter’s reaction was angry face, throwing few papers on us with a pen and request to write down our names and orders by… ourselves. He made us all feeling very uncomfortable, but we started writing down our orders. The waiter came back after some time and my boyfriend asked extra 5 minutes. The waiter left and wasn’t coming back for much longer. I went after him and I found him smoking cigarette. I told him our orders are ready and he said he would not come back to service our table, because he didn’t like the voice of my boyfriend asking extra 5 minutes and that we should wait for his colleague, as he is not planning to come back… We left this place to spend our money in another restaurant nearby, where we could simply split the bill by paying at the counter and where the waiter was extremely happy to receive us. Nevertheless, I will never forget the embarrassment for the way in which my family was treated on this...

We came to this restaurant for dinner — me, my son, and my female friend. While the service was actually good — the waiters were polite and attentive — unfortunately, that’s the only positive thing we can say about the experience.
The food served to the three of us was truly disappointing. There was absolutely no care in presentation, taste, or quality. As soon as the plates arrived, we lost our appetite. They looked unappetizing and tasted just as bad. My son took a couple of bites and refused to continue. My female friend didn’t even touch hers. I forced myself to try a few bites, but it was nearly inedible.
Honestly, even a dog would sniff this food and walk away. That’s how bad it was. And what’s worse, the price we paid for this low-quality food was absolutely disheartening. Zero value for money.
The only redeeming part was the kindness of the staff, but even that couldn’t save this meal from being a complete failure. In a city like Budapest, it’s a shame that a restaurant with such low standards exists. We definitely do not recommend...
