Location The Courtyard by Marriott Budapest City Center is located on Jozsef Korut, a large avenue running from north to south across the Pest section of the city, one block from Blaha Lujza Ter a large station in line 2 ( red) of the city metro. The Courtyard is located in a new modern building sitting of a large intersection, adjacent to a small shopping centre. The shopping centre features an H&M store, a Vodafone store, a sushi restaurant, a Subway a coffee shop and a vertical good health store. The location is perfect and while located in a busy part of the city it is very accessible. The overall area is not pretty or picturesque and Blaha Lujza metro station is riddled with groups of homeless people. With that said it is what you expect from being in the centre of the city and even in the late hours of the night I felt safe. I would recommend buying the Budapest Card it is food value as it gives free access to local transport, discounts on museums and a free entry to Lukacs Baths which is one of many thermal baths spas in the city.
Service Upon arrival and check-in the service was superb. Friendly, informative and proactive. The staff in the restaurant was equally friendly and helpful. While the staff can seem slightly stern, it is less about their warmness and more about the general culture.
Room Given my Starwood membership status I was fortunate to get upgraded to a higher grade room which was done by the staff without me asking. The room was on the 4th floor and featured two large full rooms (in addition to the bathroom). As with any Courtyard by Marriott the furniture is functional and modern with lots of space. The wardrobe was large and plenty of storage room was provided, including a small refrigerator and coffee machine. The only observation is that the room can be dark due to the fact it did not overlook the street. The bathroom was modern and basic, featuring a hairdryer and basic toiletries.
Amenities The hotel offers a large modern lounge and bar area which is buzzing Monday to Friday as it attracts some of the work and local conferences crowd. The restaurant offers a buffet breakfast which is complete providing a fruit, cold cuts and warm breakfast option. The hotel also features a very small gym (four machines and a workout bench with weights) and modern sauna room and set room on the 6th floor. The lobby offers a pantry area were guests can buy items such as drinks, toiletries and a variety of two salads.
The Courtyard by Marriott offers functionality and comfort in the middle of city centre. Highly recommended for families and groups looking for the essentials in a modern and...
Read moreI stayed 5 nights at this property. It was fine and I would stay here again, but it wasn't amazing.
There were a few issues. The main one was that the wifi didn't work for the first 3 nights of our stay. I thought this was ridiculous, since this is an American hotel that has a lot of American guests that rely on wifi since they don't have phone plans in Europe. It was extremely hard trying to plan my activities, meals, and transportation as a tourist staying here. I know wifi issues happen, but they really should have taken longer than multiple days to fix such an important amenity.
The second issue was that on our first morning we were woken up at the crack of dawn by a large family with children crying staying in the adjoining room. Adjoining rooms shouldn't even be a thing, and I was annoyed that they paired us with a loud family too. They did move us to a new room (without an adjoining door) which I appreciate, but it was not a pleasant way to spend my first morning in Budapest.
The location is a whole other point. It is both good and bad.
On the plus side, the location of this hotel is EXTREMELY well connected. The square it is on is a major transport square, so almost every metro, tram, and bus line stops right outside your door. Attractions like ruin bars and the Dohany Synagogue are a short walk away. You could pretty much get anywhere you want in the city in under 15 minutes, so it was great for exploring.
On the other hand, since it is a big transport hotspot, the area directly around the hotel is extremely sketchy. There were just endless homeless people and junkies hanging out around the hotel at all hours. I never felt particularly unsafe since there were always lots of other people around, but people cooking drugs in tin foil outside of your hotel is never a pleasant thing to see. I don't think the negatives outweigh the positives of the location, but just be mindful that it isn't exactly a quaint...

Greeting Mr. Franciscy (GM),
In general, people are quick to complain, but I would like to express my sincere thanks and appreciation and start your day with a praise and a feedback on my recent stay/experience with Courtyard Budapest City Center, Hungary, and to sum it all up, your team member was all exceptional professional, kind and courteous and did not disappointed me in anyway.
I must share with you my feedback and experience I had had during my recent trip, as I was incredibly pleased with your team’s commitment to highest quality services.
The Friday and Saturday evening in the Lobby Lounge, as we had truly enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere with all the friendliest staff and services, I had ever encountered. I had enjoyed all the friendly conversations, particularly recommendations of their favorite local places to visit and restaurants. As well, I had observed of their engagement with all other customers in the same consistent friendly manner, and they all appeared to enjoy their times and visit the Lobby Lounge staff.
Overall, I would like to compliment your entire staff for being so professional. With always wonderful smile on their faces, they have been really very impressive in their service. And of course, I would like to visit your hotel again in the near future for this outstanding experience.
