Spatula Cafe — Restaurant in Budapest

As soon as entered the cafe, we felt unwelcome. As if we interrupted a chit-chat of the owner with her friends when we entered the place? No “friendly smile” as you advertise the place to be, and unpleasant service. I can feel the same negative sarcastic treatment reading your answers to google reviews too… Please try to be nicer to your customers, people have right for their opinion.

The food and drinks were good, but there were too few options. Your Instagram shows a different thing. Maybe because we came right for the opening time, but i believe you should have your stock ready as brunch time is prime.

Please note that i leave this review not to be negative, but genuinely suggest how you can do better as i have experience in managing a cafe. Food is important and you do it well, but the service is something that leaves a bitter feeling.

I literally wrote that I don’t mean to be negative, but alright i would still like to answer you. How am i supposed to know about this private event? You can just put on an A4 paper on the door stating that “dear guests today we are closed for a private event”? All you have on the door is the opening time that states that on Saturdays you are open at 11, i was just trying to get in at the opening time. You still let us in although you could have opened the door and said that you can’t have us for this reason (forgot to indicate it or don’t want to indicate or whatever!) and i would totally understand that. Nice find a bit away from the tourists, even though we are! Coming from down under, we have some pretty good baristas. As I have espresso there is no hiding behind frothy milk or sugar as an excuse for a bad coffee. The coffee here comes hot, pretty good and doesn't need sugar. I had planned to bring out of town guests to breakfast here. When I tried to make the reservation I was informed that they would not open that Sat AM (Aug 1st). When I explained that I had a group of 9 and that they were from Prague, they actually agreed to open for us! The service and friendly atmosphere will bring me back again.
