Vas Manci — Restaurant in Budapest

Really excellent place with friendly service and high quality food! My husband and I found this place on our last night in Budapest. The restaurant is pretty small but we luckily got a table without a reservation (about 8pm on a Friday). There looked to be only one wait staff and even though she was busy she was still friendly, spoke English, took the time to answer our questions, all with a smile! We ended up ordering the Mediterranean eggplant that came with bread, the roasted pork belly and pumpkin ragout with chicken. The food was delicious and flavorful! You could really taste the love and quality in the dishes. After eating at so many subpar places in Budapest, we were thrilled to finally have a delicious meal!! Literally everything about our dinner here was perfect. The restaurant is quaint and inviting, with a tempting menu filled with dishes from all along the Mediterranean coast. My husband and I shared an assortment of tapas (fava bean dip, zucchini dip, whipped feta, grilled artichoke), pao de queijo, crudités, bread, and their maafe chickpea stew.

All of the food was fantastic, but what solidified it as a perfect night was the woman who took care of us. She was so hospitable and kind, bringing us cold water and arranging the fan to keep us cooler in the sweltering heat. This is a perfect little gem a bit out of the mostly crowded tourist district. They have a Spanish style bistro menu with tapas and some main dishes, an excellent soup - all are prepared perfectly. They taste very good: absolutely above any expectation. There are quite a few wines - on and off list -, but their tinto de verano or mulled wine is also very good. The dessert was again a very good surprise to me: an unexpectedly perfect combination of flavours. Already at the second time you feel like a regular at this cozy little place.
