A hidden gem in Budapest — cozy, heartwarming, and full of flavor. Velvet Café is the kind of place that makes you fall in love with Budapest all over again. A tiny, charming café with a cozy atmosphere both inside and out — perfect for slow breakfasts, relaxed brunches, or a quiet coffee in the sun. We came here several times, and every single visit was exceptional. The food was perfectly prepared — the eggs, the bacon, the pastries — everything felt fresh, balanced, and cooked with real care. And that spicy hot chocolate… simply divine! Thick, rich, and unforgettable. The service was warm and attentive, always with a smile, and the attention to detail was impressive. It’s clear that the people here truly love what they do. With just a bit more refinement, Velvet Café could easily reach Michelin recognition — it already has the heart, soul, and quality of a one-star restaurant. A must-visit for anyone who appreciates great food served with genuine warmth.

Velvet Cafe is an absolute gem—stylish, relaxed, and the perfect little escape from the busier parts of Budapest. From the moment we walked in, it felt like one of those places you just want to hang out in all afternoon. Cozy seating, thoughtful design, and a calm, welcoming vibe that instantly sets the tone. The coffee was fantastic—rich, smooth, and clearly made with care. They also have a great selection of pastries and light bites, all super fresh and beautifully presented. It’s the kind of place where everything feels curated without being pretentious. The staff were lovely—friendly, helpful, and genuinely warm. You can tell they care about creating a space where people feel comfortable, and it shows. Whether you’re looking for a quiet place to read, catch up with a friend, or just enjoy a really good coffee in a beautiful setting, Velvet Cafe is a must. It feels like a little pocket of calm and quality in the city—and we’re so glad we found it.

Our first impression was quite disappointing as we didn't feel welcome, likely due to understaffing. We were informed that there were two groups ahead of us, and our food would take some time but not more than an hour. Unfortunately, we ended up waiting 1 hour and 50 minutes for shakshuka and hummus eggplant 🙂! Waiting almost two hours for breakfast with not even a single apology for the delay was unbelievable. Even the food was not worth the wait tbh. I would only recommend this place for a drink; their iced coffee was decent, and the atmosphere is pleasant.

As I can see everybody write their review in English so I'm just going to write in Hungarian, because I want to if we are here. Kis feles pohár a pulton gondolom azzal. A másik.
