They make a great falafel sandwich and a great sabich—both with generous, well-sauced portions. They make the best falafel balls I've had outside of an Arab country—it's as good as what you'll find in Amman, Ramallah, or Cairo.
I also loved their kombucha. They sell lots of different flavors. For example, they had some familiar flavors like a robust ginger. They also had some delightful departures, like orange carrot. I'm pretty sure it's homemade, but didn't think to ask.
We found the staff to be gracious and polite. We got our food quickly, but one of our orders had been mis-communicated. We insisted on keeping the sandwich we got (although they wanted to prepare us the other sandwich right away). When we refused a replacement, they brought us a little sample of the other flavors so we wouldn't miss anything.
I had a great meal and I can't recommend this place...
Read moreI don’t post reviews but this place made me do it. We are vegetarians and finding delicious vegetarian food in Iceland is a struggle and Chickpea is a rare vegan restaurant we found on Google. The menu is small but all the offerings are delicious, I loved that they made pita in front of us and it was a sourdough pita. So yumm.. the wrap, coffee and hot chocolate were all on point. Owners were very patient and warm and welcomed us with a smile. The wrap is filling and kept us full for the entire day. If you are in downtown Reykjavik want a good vegetarian meal please consider going here.
Please know that the place is small and doesn’t have dining tables but they have bar stools if you want to sit and eat there. There are no restrooms which isn’t a big deal for me.
Overall I would recommend this place...
Read moreIf you’re looking for a completely satisfying and hearty meal in a laid back restaurant, check out Chickpea. The food is well-balanced— the textures and the flavors all merge extremely well together to create a delicious, balanced bite. We ended up going back to this restaurant during our trip because it was just that good.
It may be a bit difficult to find if you’re not familiar with the area and/or if you’re using Google Maps. It’s right next to the Kronan grocery store. Don’t skip out on going here if you can’t find it. Just walk around the side of the...
