Mokka-Kaffi is located on one of the main shopping streets in Reykjavik right in the city centre. The place has a somewhat arty feel to it, perhaps also because of the posters that advertise arty events. Mokka-Kaffi looks a little bit old-fashioned, and I read that it basically still looks the same as it looked when it opened many years ago, which explains this style, that feels a bit odd today. Anyway, there is nothing wrong with dark wood, and the place looks nice and warm.
I mainly went in, because I could not resist the lovely smell of fresh waffles when I was walking past this little place.
I ordered a flat white to see what they will say, some coffee shops do it, some not, you almost never find it on the menu in Iceland. The barista asked me what a flat white was again and then made a beautiful cup of coffee for me. Not the perfect flat white, but a tasty coffee drink.
No doubt, the highlight of my visit at Mokka-Kaffi clearly was the waffle with jam and cream. It was fresh and warm and delicious.
All in all, Mokka-Kaffi is a lovely place with good coffee, great waffles and a very friendly barista. Definitely a coffee shop you should not miss when you...

My boyfriend and myself both got the grilled ham and cheese sandwich which was good as a light lunch and reasonably priced for the area. The coffee was good, we got a latte and a flat white. The staff were friendly and all spoke English which eased my anxiety of having to deal with a language barrier as this was the first place we had visited since arriving in Reykjavik and were not sure what to expect.
This is a four instead of a five merely because the layout is slightly awkward and we were not sure about whether it was table service or order at the bar, which lead to some confusion between us and another guest who was in the queue. It is bar service and they bring the food to you after you have ordered.
All in all, a nice experience with decent food and coffee, we would return again, and would recommend to all...
Read moreCame with my family to have a coffee, but didn’t even have a chance to enjoy the atmosphere there. Because the sales women asked me to leave. They didn’t have a decaf coffee and I went a cross street to get one while my family was ordering coffee and pastries. To enjoy a coffee time with them I asked them to buy for me an Icelandic donut too. But when I brought the coffee from other store and wanted have it with the Icelandic donut the woman asked me to leave because they don’t allow the food from the other stores. This is so unfair...
