Food: Momo platter - Fried, Pan-fried, Steamed, Saucy Momos with 2 of each!! I loved the saucy Momos more than anything else since the gravy on top of it was exquisite, the flavors stood out neat and had the right spiciness!! ๐ฅฐ Next up would be the fried which was crunchy, having good tender meat on the inside, their dips (chili and peanut) were so much Indian with a smooth texture ๐ Steamed and pan-fried weren't bad but they were just okay with the sauce ๐
Hakku choyila - A classic Newali choyila (Buffalo meat) marinated in Nepalese spices and crispy puffed rice; what was best about this dish was the freaking amazing masala rather than their meat!! The meat was a bit inconsistent when it came to texture, it is a bit rubbery though fatty enough!! This was supposed to be more tender than beef but didn't look the best (except their semi-gravy masala) ๐ค
Nepali chili chicken - A juicy boneless chicken tossed, fried, and marinated well in native Nepali chili sauce; easily the best since it was almost like a Manchurian except for their sauces; crunchy on the outside while very soft on the inside, cooked perfectly, WOW!!! ๐๐๐
Mutton khaja set - A set Newali meal with unlimited rice refills served with mutton choyila, aloo curry/gravy, pickles, fried egg, and Curd!! This is one wholesome meal that would easily satisfy anyone's appetite!! Very beautifully served, all the dishes were less spice level, strong in flavors with tender meat!! The choyila was aromatic with the meat being very succulent, mix it up with rice for the perfect Indian twist!! ๐ค
Nepali style chicken chowmein - Stir-fried noodles tossed in Thakali curry; good quantity noodles tossed in local mild spiced curry and chopped chicken, could've been spicier for me but mix it up with the hakku choyila, this gives out the best fragrance and kick!! ๐
Titaura cooler - Very different by its name, this soda is an amalgamation of mint, tamarind, and chili with a hint of sugar!! Quite strong and sour, kicky but hits slow, a concoction with the lapsi (plum) is what makes this a unique drink!! โค๏ธ
Ambiance/Price: Very simple setting with decent lighting, but not much of a parking space so have to park deep inside the streets!! Table booking is recommended owing to their limited seats, and get cramped up during the wee hours!! The service could've been quicker since there was a longer waiting time for almost all their dishes!! They stand well on the price scale since there aren't many places for authentic...
ย ย ย Read moreI wish there would be an option to give - ratings, this restaurant is defaming the name of Nepali foods, Guys who didn't taste Nepali foods in life and if you eat here and think that oh this is the taste of Nepali foods then do not believe it, this restaurant doesn't even have 1% taste of Nepali foods... As a Nepali staying far from home I always wanted to go where I'll get Nepali food for my comfort, I came here as I saw in insta etc it's just an overhyped!!! I can say whoever Nepali will come 90% of them will not get Nepali taste and won't like either!! I visited here with my friend who never tasted Nepali foods I told him it' would be a great experience, At first we just wanted to try momos so me & my friend ordered veg and chicken momo , veg momos r ok ok not soo good , chutney was so not even spicy there was no any peanut taste it wa not even momo chutney, it was around 235 for 10 pc but sadly It can't even beat street momo, they r far 100x better, however I finished momo but my friend told chicken momo is so bland ๐คฎ he said when he ate one-piece only he didn't like but forcely he ate 5 pcs later we ordered aloo ko achar and it was quite good but not in nepalis taste! Only Nilo nilo akash drink was good ๐ and I thought veg thakali thali will be good so I ordered, but It was the worst thali i ever had in my entire life , in kalo dal there's no ghew, mula ko achar was plain , shadeko gundruk was not good , saag was so bitter so plain , they are charging too much atleast they should have provide basmati rice and the worst part is matar paneer gravy !!! I'm a vegetarian girl since birth but idk why when I ate this paneer I just felt like I'm eating some non veg bcs it smells like that. I think they used buff/ mutton gravy but for sure it was not veg ! The moment I chew that paneer I just started getting vomit in table only so I just rush to the bathroom and vomit ๐คข I asked my friend if there's something wrong with this gravy he tasted one spoon and he said it does feels like they used non veg gravy my friend tho didn't even ate this thakali he said this momo is not good so food will also be not good !!! That was such a horrible experience i just ate one spoon of rice with curd , I just left like that It was really bad trust me !! I regret going here !! If you want a nepali taste style food then you should never visit here! Also I think most of the good...
ย ย ย Read moreSo rewriting the review after 5 years again today post multiple visits and most probably the last visit yesterday! The food has gone horribly wrong and unhealthy. Almost all food has very high quantity of MSG (Ajinomoto) which is used as taste enhancer. (You will feel very thirsty after you have a food from there) Also as they claim, a trip to Nepal has also gone horribly wrong , chicken Choila which is one of the most famous Nepalese dish is made something weird with roasted chicken put into it, it is nothing which can be called Chicken Choila - anyone who had tasted the authentic one would know also I have no idea what on earth where they serving when we asked for Chicken Sekuwa- Chicken Sekuwa is different to Chicken Satay which is being served there! So it definitely is not a good trip to Nepal and neither is any of the food served authentic Nepali food. I donโt even want to talk about aloo dum, that would be insult to this legendary dish cooked in different way in our Nepalese cuisine but donโt know what the restaurant people are serving.
Lastly I would like to highlight one major concern, I packed the chowmein because it was excess and got it home, refrigerated it in the night and when I saw it in the morning was surprising. I think the restaurant cooks in cheap Dalda or adds some cheap fat, I have attached the picture below! That frozen part is excess oil, mostly of Dalda or some cheap fat excess.
This place was one of my favourite where I craved good Nepali food , but to my disappointment the place and food has deteriorated significantly - most importantly they seem to be using unhealthy food items and practices.
The reason I put so much effort and time in writing this review is because I donโt want people to misinterpret what is being served in this restaurant as Nepali cuisine rather some cocktail blend of whatever the chef wanted to cook but never the authentic Nepali cuisine.
Please see the review which I had put in 5 years before: This is probably the best place in Bangalore to try for authentic Nepalese food with Nepalese ambience. My personal best place, I would like to give restaurant a small suggestion that it would be better if they increase the staff because normally service is too slow but still five star for...
