Basaveshwar Khanavali (The Original) — Restaurant in Bengaluru

With my experience few months back on a Saturday being good here, I went to this place on a Friday expecting the same fare but to my dismay A. Curd had turned sour B. Butter Milk undrinkable C. Chutney had gone down south due to sweltering heat. No common sense on Part of management to prepare Chutney in small batches D. USP of Nk restaurants are their Sambar but in here it was a thick dal with whatever masala chef could lay hands on. Not even a single vegetable. On asking the server, some bihari guy whose mouth smelt Vimal advised me that what was served was sambar not vegetables sambar. E. Rotis were served cold F. Bajji was half cooked. G. Lately many people have tried to steal their brand name and have opened fake outlets. But they can never match the taste and hospitality that we get at the original outlets of Basaveshwar Khanavali. Had recently visited this newly opened outlet in Jayanagar 4th block, beside cool joint. Service was prompt even during the rush hours. I am big fan of their Bele Obbattu. Bajjis and bondas served for snacks were hot and fresh. Both the items tasted great with chutney. Junka was soft and just melted in mouth. Jolada rotti is served hot along with white butter on top. Brinjal curry and Matki curry were prepared in typical north Karnataka style. All their chefs are from Hubbali, which makes this places even more authentic. Would highly recommended this place to visit with your family and friends. I am sure you would enjoy the food and the hospitality.

Wonderful place for savoring North Karnataka style vegetarian food. Served in Authentic style and taste on Banana leaf. I was a fan of Basaveshwar Khanavali when I was in Hubli and wanted to try their extended chain in Bangalore. Had been there with family and a total of 5 people.

Served well with courtesy and were gentle as well. Ambiance is great, place is clean and well maintained, prices are nominal for an authentic NK style food.

I still give them 4 stars coz there were lot of hiccups while serving. Many items they forgot to serve and were brought only when asked repeatedly. Serving was slower even though the restaurant was not too rush. Non locals are at service and I guess they are still learning and understanding the North Karnataka culture and food and would give them the benefit of doubt for hiccups while serving.
