The place is located right opposite mini forest. It is a decent sized place with a good amount of seats. They have a completely closed off section with AC and another section without AC where there’s a huge window that they keep open. If you plan on working, you have seats that are kept close to a few plug points so that you can charge your laptops etc. it does get a bit noisy (they keep the windows open) due to the traffic (there’s a signal very close to the place) so I’d recommend getting headphones or a good pair of earphones to attend meetings. The staff was very courteous and polite. They saw me working away and were kind enough to come and give me a bottle of water without me asking for it. When it comes to their menu, it’s impeccable. The have one of the best Vietnam iced coffees that you can find in Bangalore. They have a huge array of flavoured cold brews and hot ones too. Food is great for the most part. Their pancakes and toasts are my favourite. I’ll admit that I haven’t tried out their entire menu but I look forward to it. Brownie points for all the free badges, stickers and post cards they are giving away because of their 10th anniversary!! The only sad part is that it has limited...
Read moreA colleague of mine visiting from Mumbai highly recommended I try Blue Tokai for their coffee. Being the coffee lover I am, I never pass up a recommendation , so while at the JP Nagar, I went to their outlet, ready for a quick caffeine fix.
The café, located right on the main road, is clean and well-maintained, inviting for a casual stop. But after experiencing some stellar brews over the past few days (check out my recent reviews), this one just didn’t hit the mark. It felt underwhelming and a bit off from what I had come to expect.
I truly believe that the origin and quality of the beans play a huge role, and I’ve noticed that independently run cafés often put in more effort in sourcing and crafting their brews. That extra care shows and perhaps that’s what was missing here.
Alongside my coffee, I ordered the croissant chicken sandwich, which sadly didn’t impress either. The lettuce had definitely given away its lack of freshness.
Blue Tokai in JP Nagar might still work as a casual pitstop or a spot for a laid-back conversation. But if you’re chasing that perfect cup, this visit...
Read moreAn airy, spacious, brightly lit and sparkling clean place, well located in JP Nagar's Outer Ring Road, and bang opposite JP Woods with its IT buildings. I liked the minimalist décor and muted colours. The seats could've been more comfortable to make people linger, an important point in coffee cafés. The cappuccino I ordered was very hot, just as I'd asked for and the coffee tasted exotic, not your run-of-the-mill blend for sure. You can buy coffee beans here from different coffee estates, and have them ground up, before you carry it home. On a recent visit to Blue Tokai in October 2024, I was delighted that it has maintained standards. It also had a new beverage on its menu - Vietnamese-style Iced Coffee. Though a bit pricey, the taste and feel was almost the same as the câ phé sûda I...
