Ferrara: Where Italian Delights Meet Sweet Indulgence in Koramangala
Tucked away in Bengaluru's Koramangala area, Ferrara is a charming Italian eatery that has garnered a reputation for its unique and delectable dessert creation – the Bumbo Buns. This delightful fusion of ice cream sandwiched between doughnut-like buns is a must-try for anyone with a sweet tooth and a penchant for culinary adventure.
Ferrara's Bumbo Buns are an experience like no other. The menu offers a tantalizing array of flavors, including Tiramisu, peach, cherry, strawberry, and the standout favorite, honeycomb. My personal preference was the honeycomb, which delivered a perfect blend of sweetness and texture.
Eating a Bumbo Bun at Ferrara is not just about satisfying your cravings; it's a culinary journey filled with anticipation and satisfaction. The warm, freshly baked buns enveloping the cold, creamy ice cream create a delightful contrast of temperatures and textures, making every bite a revelation.
However, be prepared for a bit of a wait and potential crowds. The popularity of Ferrara's Bumbo Buns often leads to a bustling atmosphere, and their stock tends to run out quickly, despite their late operating hours until 2 a.m.
Apart from the Bumbo Buns, Ferrara also offers a selection of classic Italian dishes, from pasta to pizza, prepared with attention to detail and authentic flavors. Whether you're in the mood for a savory meal or a sweet indulgence, Ferrara has something to satisfy every craving.
In conclusion, Ferrara in Koramangala is a culinary gem that seamlessly blends Italian flavors with sweet innovation. The Bumbo Buns are a revelation, and their diverse range of flavors ensures there's a treat for every palate. While the crowds and limited stock can be a minor inconvenience, the unique experience and delicious offerings at Ferrara make it a destination well worth visiting for dessert enthusiasts and food...
Read moreCockroach in icecream!!! Went there with 3 of friends after dinner today. We all ordered our different icecream flavours. I ordered a wild blue berry. After eating almost half icecream I found a small cockroach. I showed it all my friends and they confirmed it was a cockroach. It had legs and tentacles. We called the nearest waiter and told him. He took the icecream cone to show his manager. Didn't return for 15 minutes until we asked another waiter for the manager.
Manager came with a tissue paper and two berries in it. He told me that isn't a cockroach but red berries. Please remember I ordered a blue berry icecream cone. You make the payment first according to the scoop size and then choose ur choice of favour. I seriously got so furious that they tried to trick us. Worst part is instead of admitting their mistake they resorted to lying and telling us that we made a mistake in seeing. Thankfully I had clicked a few pictures and a video which he was unaware about it. I showed him a picture and he knew he can't lie anymore or cook up any more stories. Then he went away for a minute and came back with confirmation and picture in his phone confirming that was actually a cockroach. Still he was blaming the supplier. Still no apology. Feeding cockroach to customer and then lying. We confronted him about his dishonesty. Then he admitted his mistake and refunded us our bill amount in cash. Apology only came when they saw that other customers were listening to our conversation.
We made him throw the whole icecream batch in dustbin infront of our eyes to make sure they don't serve it to anyone else.
I was able to spot the cockroach because my icecream had somewhat white base with chunks of blue berry. I don't think it's possible to spot in dark colours.
I seriously doubt the hygiene of this place. Obviously won't recommend...
Read moreWe came to check out this place, which has just opened up. So on end you go with the understanding that they are still setting up, on the other hand you'd hope that at least at the start they would be putting attention to details. I am not not talking about superficial details, but really the basics. But let's start from the good parts. The pizza was pretty good, and the ambience is really cute (although a bit of an overdo with the pictures on the wall... in Italy, small restaurants put actual family photos, photos of the town, or of their clients on the walls but in this case they seem to have printed a bunch of photos from google... which ruined the all "authentic" look). On their insta page they clearly claim that they don't aim to be an authentic Italian restaurant, which is clear also from their menu, but also in stark contrast with the traditional ambience of the place. Their servers (again keeping in mind that this place just opened and that they are probably still learning) seem completely clueless. They are not familiar with the menu, and seem lost every time you ask them a question. The tablecloths, despite this place has literally just opened, were not only stained but had actual food stuck on to them, which is absolutely unhygienic and just plain gross. Lastly, although the ice-cream counter is a great eye-catcher, the taste is so so. Some flavours are good, other less so, but generally rather "gummy" in texture. Overall I think this can be a great place for anyone who hasn't been to Italy, and wants Indian flavored "italian" food. And if this was their goal, then I guess they succeeded. But if you have travelled a bit and know one or two things about Italian food and culture, this will definitely be a disappointment, both to your palat and to...
