Golden OAK — Restaurant in Bengaluru

Friday evening my wife and I went to dinner at Golden Oak restaurant in Sarovar Marbella, Jayanagar. As it turns out it was the most regrettable decision. We ordered a Virgin Mary each and a potato and peas samosa for starters. The drink arrived and was alright on the face of it. They kept us waiting for almost 30mins for the cocktail samosas and on enquiry we were told that they had dropped our order on the floor. Still after another ten mins or so the starter arrived. It seemed alright. Almost on the heels of it the main course of shaam savera, rumali roti, veg pulao and raita were served. We didn’t have much of an appetite by then because of the long wait but still ate what we could and got the rest parcelled. Having paid our bill of ₹2700 or so we left. Enroute home both my wife and I experienced symptoms of nausea and dizziness. It was more severe for me. The result of dining at Golden Oak was catastrophic. My wife spent the entire night with bouts of loose motion, feverishness and body ache; wracked by nausea. The next morning since my condition was no better she had to contact the physician for treatment. I contacted and apprised the Restaurant manager : Nirmal Nayak of the situation. His responses or lack of it are simply callous and appalling. Despite having promised to revert since there was no call from him. Being in hospitality his response is nothing short of irresponsible and indifferent. All I can conclude is this place is highly avoidable. We are though am still suffering from the repercussions of having dined at this simply awful and definitely unhygienic restaurant. All I can say is if you plan to go there for a meal dial at your own risk....

When we went - for dinner on a Wednesday night (which happened to be a public holiday). Hardly any tables were occupied. This place is always quiet and not as crowded as one would imagine it to be.

What we ate - masala papad, peanut masala, kalmi kabab, lemon chicken, garlic naan and kadai veg. Masala papad and Chinese chicken were avoidable. Indian dishes were great.

Why we went - A quiet family dinner for long conversations and that’s exactly the ambience we got.

Where we sat - a table by the wine cellar wall. Beautiful ambience and the right temperature!

Who served us - I need to get a hang of finding out the waiters’ names. Will make an effort for the next review. But all waiters were patient and courteous.

How we felt - perfect quality time...

Had been for team lunch on 20th Dec 2023, it was worst decision to choose Golden Oak. Atmosphere was ok, some electric work was going on. One particular person was incharge for our table, incase of necessity none of the other server or manager was responding. Food was ok, we ordered Shaam Savera, Vegetable Kolapuri, Kofta curry - apart from Veg Kolapuri rest both curries were sweet. OMG still more worst, they took minimum 35 minutes to serve after our each order which was exhausting (some items to reach our table it took up to 45 minutes). Even if we go with leisure time, its really annoying to wait such long to get our order. We just felt like when we will be out from there. Service, taste and ambience not justified for the amount they charge. Not...
