I recently had the displeasure of trying the asian chicken sushi and I must say it was an absolute disaster. I don't even know where to begin with this abomination they call sushi.
First of all, the presentation was atrocious. The sushi rolls looked like they were made by a toddler with no sense of aesthetics. The rice was unevenly spread and falling apart, and the chicken looked like it had been sitting out for days. It was an instant turn-off before I even took a bite.
Now, let's talk about the taste – or lack thereof. The rice was dry and tasteless, as if it had been cooked weeks ago and microwaved right before serving. The chicken was incredibly bland and had a strange, almost sour aftertaste. It was evident that the ingredients were of poor quality and lacked any freshness.
The worst part was the quantity. They had charged whopping amount of rupees 599 for but the sushi which contains 4 pieces only and that also too small, it was not even enough for a small kid.
But wait, there's more! The soy sauce they provided was clearly watered down, making it even more flavorless than usual. And don't even get me started on the wasabi. It was so weak that I couldn't even feel the slightest hint of spiciness.
To add insult to injury, the service was appalling. The waitstaff seemed disinterested and inattentive, as if they couldn't care less about the customers or the food they were serving. Also the service staff was stubborn with the service charges even after denying they were forcing us to pay the service charges and said that it is compulsory for their restaurant.
Overall, my experience with the sushi was nothing short of a nightmare. I wouldn't wish this tasteless, poorly prepared mess on my worst enemy. Save your money and your taste buds and steer clear of this disaster of a sushi joint. There are far better places to satisfy your sushi cravings than this sad excuse for...
Read moreWe dined at the Lucky Chan after a full day excursion in Bangalore because we wanted a relaxed meal and that’s exactly what we got. Located right on one of the busiest streets of Indiranagar, this eatery could look like a tiny one but one would be pleasantly surprised on stepping inside their main dining area. They have a special conveyer belt sushi section that which needs a pre-booking. Since we didn’t pre-book, we couldn’t enjoy it. However we tried the following:
VEG/NON-VEG TOM KHA SOUP: An absolute essential to start your meal. Had the perfect blend of coconut milk with the Thai spices, celery, brocollinis, spring onion. Served at piping hot temperature, this one definitely set the perfect tone for the culinary experience that we were going to embark.
CHILLI CHEESE VEG DUMPLING: Highly recommend. The cheese is not at all overwhelming and amalgamates really well with true chilli oil.
CHARCOAL CHICKEN DUMPLINGS: A unique offering from appearance perspective but got defeated by the veg dumplings in my personal opinion. The wafer thin dumpling coating made it super light though.
VEG DAN DAN NOODLES: If you’re confused what to order from their large variety of noodles, then you can go for this one with your eyes closed. Perfectly spicy and made for the Indian palette but still being true to its origin.
The service aspect could be improved as we had clearly mentioned that mushrooms shouldn’t have been included in any of the dishes because of allergy issues but still the first serving of the soup had mushrooms. They served us a new portion but the lapse in their concentration first time was a...
Read moreA pretty cozy Japanese restaurant that had been on my list for a while, and overall, it was a pretty solid experience. The ambiance was modern yet warm, with subtle lighting and a clean layout that made it feel inviting without being too formal.
We started with some dim sums and sushi, both of which were fresh and well-prepared. The dim sums had a delicate wrapper with flavorful fillings, nothing too bold, but still satisfying. The sushi, especially the salmon nigiri, was buttery and clean, definitely a highlight of the evening.
I also tried the hibachi fried rice and dan dan noodles. The hibachi rice had that perfect wok-char flavor and just the right amount of seasoning, making it super addictive. However, the dan dan noodles were a bit of a letdown. While the portion size was generous, the flavor lacked the depth and spice kick that I usually expect from this dish, it felt a bit too toned down, almost like it was missing that punch of Sichuan pepper.
For dessert, the mango sticky rice was a pleasant surprise. The mango was sweet and the warm coconut-infused rice paired beautifully with it, comforting and not overly sweet.
We also had a couple of drinks, which were fun and fruity, though a bit overpriced for what they were. Service was friendly and attentive throughout, which added to the positive vibe.
All in all, Lucky Chan is worth checking out, especially for...
